I had a 1987 or 1988 Le Baron GTS. The sunroof leaked, the power window switch didn't work on the passenger side, the digital dash only worked once in a great while when a bump would jar something and get it going, and the engine always gave me troubles. It had nice leather seats though!

Bought it as a winter driver to keep my 69 Road Runner off the road. I ended up hitching a ride most of the time.

Same here only it was a '74 Dasher while I rebuilt the engine in my '70 Charger. What a POS that thing was. Wipers fell off, nut fell down into the carb (mpg dropped to about 8 until I fixed it), major oil leak, finally it got stuck in first gear and I dumped it. This all happened within about 5 months.

Todd Wilson

I had a 83 GMC Van.  It was a delivery van before I got it. It was used and abused and the only thing on it I really hated was the 6.2 diesel engine. Didnt have a complaint on anything else the 5 years I drove it.

Chryco Psycho

by far the Worst vehicles I have ever owned were the 2 Chev trucks both broke down constantly & cost a fortune to keep running , I have owned both my first & LAST gm product

Lowprofile

I have to say the 77 Pontiac LeMans I had back around 1984. What a total POS!!.  The trunk & floors were so rotted out, my friends & I went and swiped some highway construction signs, cut them up & put them on the floor to cover up the holes! There was so many things wrong with this car, I can't remember all of them! It did start up every day though......couldn't kill that Beeeeotch! :icon_smile_dead:

Can't really say that I have owned a total piece of junk....the closest would be an '85 Ford Thunderbird Turbo coupe. It had over 100k when I bought it so it wasn't exactly new. The engine puked at 109K miles.

The strange part is the best car I have owned was a '86 Thunderbird Turbo coupe...my wife and I bought it with 60K on it and drove that car everywhere for 6 or 7 years without ever having any trouble at all. The Turbo Coupes are one of my favorite cars from that era for ride, mileage, and handling.

Best truck by far was an '88 Dodge 150 2wd with a 318...I drove that thing for years. The only problem with it was that it was hard starting in real cold weather.   Sold it with 130K on it and still miss it.

My worst was an 86' Thunder Chicken with a 5.0, the tranny gave out after 2 years.

I can't help but think my older brother had something to do with it though.  It was a hand me down from him when he left for college, and he tends to go through about one used car per year.  (Over the last 8 years)

POS 1981 Datsun 310-2 door with a 1400cc engine with a 5 speed- supposed to be the best!!!!  ya right!!! :flame:

after the 2nd year- rust all around the wheel wheels-  ( " soory- that is rusting on the outside- not through the backside!!! )  :rotz: :rotz:
engine lasted to about 90 k when the head gasket blew- planed the head down as far as it could go- but then it started to eat oil like crazy!!! oil rings and valve guides- had to replace the 5 speed with a 4 speed- it wouldn't come out of 5th!! drove it that way for a week!!! lol
finally the orginal motor was litterly spitting out oil of the exhast pipe- replaced that motor- then it too loved oil too  !!!

then we retired it at the father-in-laws farm.  6 months later he wants to use it as a winter beater- said sure- but told him to rip out the back seats and put in a 20 gallon tank- fill it with the cheapest oil and put a small hand pump right beside you with the hose right into the oil cap filler.

" When that damn oil light comes on- pump it about 10 times until the light goes out!!!! " he laughed his a** off when I told him that- but he soory that he didn't do it!!!. when I looked in the back one day- there was a 24 case of Nugget oil(ya- cheapest crap you can buy!! )

At the end of the winter I had the last laugh- it still got about 40 miles to the gallon- he would go to the gas station and tell the guy to check the gas and fill the oil !!!!!!!  lol

( o ya- brakes, alt, etc!!!!!!!!!)

he scraped it by driving it to the local srape yard- he got $100 bucks for it!!!!  poor guy!!

Mine - 1979 Mercury Capri... My Aunt gave it to me... the rear on this car was SO light that going around a corner once in the rain it decide that it wanted to go first... the big tree I hit wanted nothing to do with that.

SLIKK 70

Wow!   I remember like it was yesterday. Either the 1979 Turbo Mustang that went from a value of 8K brand new   off the lot to $250.00 eight years later and with a recently rebuilt $2300.00 engine , or the 1989 Pontiac Firebird that just fell apart after the   warranty ended. Lessons learned!

6pkrunner

1972 Plymouth Fury III. The car was demon spawn. Lucas Electrics and Yugo reliability took lessons form that thing. I cannot say car as a car can[/b] transport people and this thing wouldn't run. And I got it in the fall of 1973 - it wasn't that old. Hateful bucket of......

nh_mopar_fan

Add me to the list of Capri owners. I had a 79 RS Turbo.

Let's see, take you standard 2.4L and then bolt on a turbo. Be sure to mount it in the back of the motor near the firewall and allow for little to no air to get back there for cooling.

What a POS.

Looks like everything from about 1973-1987 is junk.

Old Moparz

The worst car I ever owned was..... (You won't like this) a 1969 Charger SE, 383-4V automatic. It was also one of the most fun cars I had, so it was also one of my favorites. The biggest thing that made this my worst car, was that the previous owner had abused it & did a crappy job at repairing/restoring it. I have a feeling he went on to open a resto shop in Lake Vulgar, Illinois.

have to say the 88 datona rt think it had the shelby package on it.besides a bunch of electrical problems , it kept tearing the front sheet metal at the seams on the front quarter panel. The front motor mount was attached to the nose, and would stress the seams of the front panels.
BULL OF THE WOODS

41husk

international Harvester mail Jeep.  The thing would only go about 45 top end.  I traded it for a 71 Charger with a 383 that could top 45 ;D
1969 Dodge Charger 500 440/727

1970 Plymouth Duster FM3

1983 Plymouth Scamp GT 2.2 Auto
1950 Dodge Pilot house pick up

I've had two.  My first was a Dodge Aries w/the Mitsu 2.6L engine in it.  Total crap.  The second was a Dodge Caravan that had been badly flogged prior to my purchase of it.  It left me stranded on vacation down in New Mexico  :flame: :flame: :flame:

ChgrSteve67

1979 FORD Mustang V6 Auto.

My day bought me this POS instead of the 65 Mustang with a 289 V8 3 speed I wanted.

:bawling: :bawling:

Badbob

Olds Delta 88 Royale, drove it one time to the tavern, at 2 AM it woulnt start so I busted out the windshield with my fist. It went to the scrapper the next day. I quit drinking.

Next worse was a 72 vega.

Charger_Fan

I've owned a lot of high mileage/well worn cars in my day, but for the most part once I fixed a couple little problems that previous owners had given up on, they functioned well & never left me stranded...except one.

Luckily, the 'one' was given to us free from my wife's parents. 1984 Reliant K wagon, 2.2 & 5-speed manual...nicknamed "The Turdboiler".
I have never sworn at car designers more in my life than I did with that car...anyone who has ever replaced a starter on one of those will have an idea...I did 3. :icon_smile_angry:
We got it with about 95,000 on the clock & 45 miles after the odometer clicked over 100K, the tranny grenaded. Then it cracked a head, so I swapped another engine from a lower mileage car.

After that, I could barely keep up on the parts breaking on it. I don't know why I held onto it so long, but after I tallied up the estimated $2,000 in parts I put into it, I finally sold it to a couple dykes for $300. :icon_smile_big:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

ChargerSG

My 71 Challenger when i bought it(scamed by broker) thought i bought allmost a showcar got not even a driver, but after to much money and work it turned out fine, but im allmost glad its gone...

1986 Ford Bronco II. Back when I was in the Navy, a buddy of mine was shipping out, and sold it to me for $500. Talk about a money pit, oh my god. Worst vehicle I've ever owned. Everything that could break on this truck did break. Was my first, and last Phorrd.
1969 Dodge Charger 318 (2 doors only, thank you very much)
1972 Dodge W-200 4X4 "PowerWagon"
...Only Dodge in my garage!

And to plug a couple friends back in the very late 80's....   one had a Yugo.   What more is there to say and it was only a couple years old.   :icon_smile_cool:   Then she traded it in for an 80 something Cavalier and that always broke.   Then the friend who wouldn't give up on a 1982 Mustang with the straight 6.   What a $$$ pit that was!   :-X

'79 Lil'Red Express.

seems like alot of K-cars on here...  :P

Mine was a '78 Chrysler Newport.  It still had the Electronic Lean burn on  it.  I had one MONTH where I went through a set of spark plugs each week.  Every time it rained the lean burn computer would frazzle and foul all the plugs out.  I didn't know much about working on cars back then, so I didn't know enough to change it back to plain distributor.  On top of that, the climate control wouldn't work half the time unless you jiggled the ignition key just right.  The thing finally died at 75K after it lost a head gasket.  Had a 400 in it.  I swore I would NEVER buy another 400 car again.
