Most of the 906 heads that I have cc'd are right around 88 cc's, I think the reason that you see the 79.5 cc spec is because that is the spec Chrysler released for NHRA and I think possibly NACSCAR racing as "stock" so a racer could mill a bunch off of the heads to get the compression ratio up and it would still be "stock" so to speak to stay within their rules in the their class.

I'm definitely no expert here, but I see in Senatore's "Big-Block Mopar Performance" book, he says the 906 heads have 83cc combustion chambers.  Hope this helps.

Most if not all 906/452s are in the area of 88-92cc untouched, i've done a few & came up with 89 too 91cc, one set i had was re-surfaced .006 & came in at 91cc, i've heard of them being as high as 93-94cc (but its rare). most closed chambered like the 516/915s were between 78-82cc.

Senatore's book is actually a very good book unlike the one by Don Taylor which is not.  But there are several inaccuracys in his book and the cc's on the 906's is one of them.  He also quotes the misstatement that 76-78 big blocks are thin wall castings that can't be bored more than 20 to 30 thousands which we all know is wrong.  I wonder why the book continues to be printed with these inaccuracies.  It should be updated.

Thanks for letting me know, I'll find the parts and ink in the corrections.  What can I say, I'm trying to learn
