The metal work on that car is simply amazing. The guy who did it is a magician!

Magnumcharger

I met Alan in Toronto a couple of years ago. A very nice guy, and very humble about his work as well.
It so happens that we know a lot of the same Mopar people in Canada, and I always here the same good things about him.
One of his earlier restorations was of a 1971 V code Charger R/T that I had found rotting in Northern New Brunswick years ago. It managed to find it's way into his garage!
What he did with that car was pretty impressive, but what's he's done with this TenBarrell 'Cuda is almost miraculous.

Last year, I did a Photo-shop projection of what this car would look like when it was done, and sent it to him.
As soon as the car was finished, the first shot he posted was in honor of my artistic efforts!!

It's his project but it'll be for sale if it isn't already.   He's into it for way over 6 figures.    Some people on moparts were on his case over this car calling it more of a rebody.

I don't really care...  I know I'm not buying into it anyway.    I don't think a rusted car sitting on barrels someplace in Canada qualifies it to be famous or worth more.

Alan does some nice work tho.   I've run into him a few times.

Nice car but I've never seen anyone paint exhaust manifold orange before.  :eek2:

Now that you mention it, Brian, WTH is going on in this picture? Why do that, so it doesn't get flooded with toxic waste? Some sort of white trash hoist? :shruggy:

The driving lights are missing...or is he still restoring those?

Regardless, that's cool that it's finally gotten restored.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Exhaust manifolds were commonly oversprayed when the engine was painted.   It burned off.   Just ask the resto squad.  ;D

Yeah... a white trash hoist is as good an explanation as any.

The fog lights weren't optioned on that particular car, likely bought by a previous owner and installed.
And as he's going back to dead stock, they're not going back on.

I agree with the whitewalls too....don't look quite right.
But again, that's what the broadcast sheet called for, so there they are.

Somehow, I think the whitewalls look good on this particular car :2thumbs: .  Don't ask me why, because I can't explain it.  I would've never thought skinny whites would look good on a 'Cuda before - until now. I have skinny whites on my '67 Coronet, only because redlines were never offered on a '67 Coronet 440 model - - and heck, Magnum 500's weren't offered either ....but the '67 hubcaps sucked.

It seems strange to remember that at one time, the white stripe was the in/cool look.  I don't know about the rebody thing or the cost of the resto, all I can judge it on is what I know and what I know is that the car in that pic looks fantastic to me.

mikesbbody

it just goes to show they dont all rust away into the ground. Alan knows what he's doing its gonna be awesome  :2thumbs: happy ending!

FastbackJon

Wow, that is absolutely gorgeous. Six-Pack shaker sublime, and the white interior is a nice contrast. Not sure what to think of the tires/wheels now that you guys mention it, but that's an easy 20 lugnut fix. Rallye wheels with the old Polyglas GT tires would probably look better.

Check out this pic, looks like half of the car was replaced? Or maybe just removed and restored and put back in??

Alan's taken a lot of crap from those who have anointed themselves Lords of the Hobby for what they are essentially calling a rebody. I say hats off to someone who showed so much determination and effort to bring a car back from the dead. Sure he plans on selling it - but like a 1:1 scale model wasn't the fun doing something that many would run, not walk away from?
He did the incredible and hats off for that.

Awaiting with bated breath your next adventure Alan.

Ghoste

I don't know what the cutoff point would be for a rebody.  I'm not sure I think that car qualifies as a rebody (but I do think the comment about taking half out to fix it and put it back was hilarious).  There is some point where there is more donor car than original though.  I'm just not sure if it's based on mass, total area, significance of the replaced area or just a straight percentage?  Maybe a little of all?  :shruggy:

6pkrunner

I'm sure on would get 6 different answers from 3 people as to what to call it. But for the work involved - I'd call it incredible. Leaves those who tighten bolts and call themselves restorers in the dust.
And as for he purists - once the oil is changed - she ain't original anymore. ;D

Wow, old thread....this car has changed hands a few times, IIRC Dean O. purchased it off Alan G. made a few updates in the looks dept (billboards, rubber bumpers, ralleys, etc all the goodies the car need IMHO) then sold, and the current where abouts are unknown
