So are they more expensive going to AMD direct?

JimShine

If anyone is going to inquire, ask for Chris Reed. Chris is a great guy and has been working hard to get more Charger parts over there.

Did somebody get an actual quote from AMD yet?

As with any large piece of sheetmetal,   it's best to not only consider the selling price,  but the total price when combined with shipping.

plus shipping sheet metal and getting handled several time and put away and then shipped again  ( good chance of it getting damaged)

Which is why I was wondering which place is selling them cheaper.  Sometimes the resto houses will get a deal and blow them out the door for less than the mfg and sometimes all you're doing is paying extra to an order taker.

Actually, where the hood bumpers from the radiator support hits is different too.

Lets see some photographic evidence of that, huh?

No Sir, I dont have pics to support that but, its a fact that I discovered for myself when I put a 69 hood on my old 68. the square plates that the adjusters hit on(attached to the hood will cut the adjuster bumper almost exactly in half if you leave them on the 69 hood while using it on a 68 . I dont have a 69 to take pics of but I do have a 68.

Troy

I sold my 69 hood or I'd compare. I can tell you there's a difference at the rear of the car where the trunk bumpers sit on the tail panel/trunk rail. You wouldn't think that area would have necessitated a change but I replaced those sections on mine with parts cut off a 69 and they are different. I changed both side so it's difficult to tell.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

JimShine

The handle is not different. The different handle is the release on the grille support.

See this rectangular metal plate? This is on the 1969 hood, but not the 1968 hood. This is where the bumper on the fender hits.

Yep, I had the same problem with those things cutting into my rubber bumpers. I didn't realize the hood that came with my 68 was from a 69. I simply removed the plates.

Yes the 69 is mounted externally to the underside of the hood while the 68 reinf't plate is spotwelded to the top of the inner hood structure sandwhiched under the outer hood skin
