Heres the old one-

By kels70charger

It really wasn't that bad but since I got the bumpers and door handles redone I had to get the fuel cap and bezel.
The old bezel was actually pretty nice but the chrome on the cap was showing some worm lines in the chrome.

Next comes the mirrors.   :2thumbs:

What was the shipping charge Kelly?

$10.49

I bought this during that 15% off internet sale they had going on Thanksgiving.

Total with shipping for both the cap and the base plate came to $113.29

not to shabby. :D

I got my new fuel cap and ring from Year One too, but the spring on mine isn't right...The cap doesn't pop up like it's supposed to.  I'm sure they've gotten that fixed by now, it was two years ago.  Congrats!

Did you try torquing down the thre screws a little more?

My new one pops up just fine but only after I snugged down the three mounting screws real good.

Just a thought.  :yesnod:

:iagree:  Most all of us have bought new caps, old news. Most of the caps, if not all, don't spring
up like the originals ''and the screws are tight'' or you don't have any clue how to work on a car.
This situation has been talked about lots of times, Kelly missed those threads as well   :popcrn:

Pics of the switch out process of the old to new, if not done yet, would be helpful. Looks good.

Pics of that? :scratchchin: Let's see. Turn the three mounting screws counter clockwise until they come out, remove old cap and ring, install new ring and cap and turn the three mounting screws clockwise until tight. Done!

See, I would never have guessed it was that easy :shruggy:, figured there would be a gasket or something required to connect it to the gas filler tube.

Looks like Santa might be sending me one to!  :nana:

did it come with the cap?.. (mines original, and is nowhere near needing replacment)  :2thumbs:

Looks good Lizard. I am actually surprised it's not on the car already. You get stuff done pretty quick once the parts arrive.  :2thumbs:

I am broke this year. Between a Ring (shut it up 6T9) and truck repairs, I am working mad OT at work to make up for my spending. Feel free to send me anything you don't want.  ;)

Oh good, there's smaller pics today. :icon_smile_big: That first one yesterday was friggin' massive! :o

Would you like to sell me your old cap assembly & make some of that $113.29 back? :icon_smile_wink:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I bought a cap and bezel from Year One probably two years ago.  I had the same issue as you.  The cap doesn't spring back up.  I compared it to my original and I really don't think it is as well made.  It is definitely shinier but I think I will use the original on my restoration.  I'll keep the newer cap on the section of fender I cut off a junker and got all the surviving Dukes of Hazzard stars to sign (original series).

Nice to see someone is getting toys.  My wife cut my spending for NOV and DEC related to my car.  We put EVERYTHING on American Express so we are forced to pay it off each month.  I put 1,500.00+ on it for the Charger in OCT, so she asked (told) me to back off for Christmas bills.  She has some crazy women logic that the kids should come first? :eek2:   Money for the Charger is a waste .  Oh really I said :o  Well, all the junk you buy for them this year will probably be broken or lost by next year.  The Charger is a solid tangable insured investment, so lets not even travel down that road.  Man O man, I can't wait until Jan 1 2008, Ebay, yearone, paddock, and everyone else, "I'll TAKE IT" cajing cajing :icon_smile_big:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

You also could save by doing what I do. Save some of the useless gifts and re give them this year. Like when aunt maggie gave you that useless shaving kit last year....maybe now nephew jimmy could use it this year.....hey it works :D
