Hi, my name is Bryan. My wife & I have a funny looking pointy nosed purple Charger with a very large towel rack on the rear. We built a Daytona clone from a '70 Charger 500. We drove from Seattle to Talladega for the '99 Areo Reunion in the car.

Welcome to the board.I remember seeing your 2 superbirds at one of the meets. And know of the canadian daytona.Nice 42 Marty Robbins replica didnt Svec brothers have car like that also.looks familar to me .I think they used a 69 charger 500 or parts from 69 charger 500 to build it

Mike and Gary Svec built the car, yes--we bought it from Mike so that he could buy a Superbird project.

The car has Mike Svec's original nose cone from his black (painted from R4) car, a real wing, latch tray, fender scoop set, decklid filler panel/hinges and a 500 plug/trim from (I think) former racer Buzz Miller.  They fabricated Z brackets and the lower valance, and there are no internals in the nose.  The car is a real H code 383HP R4 car.

69_500

So what nose cone does Mike's car have on it currently then? I've seen his car at many shows, but not ever really looked at it that closely.

nascarxx29

I remember a long while back at the nats or a meet.It was painted blackand must have used 70 1/4s with large marker lights to restore.Didnt recall anything wrong with nose on it. I had seen the album and had the racing champs 42 daytona.Never seen much anything else collectible in a daytona on Marty Robbins. But went into a local antique store. And found a poster where he preformed sometime back in Pitman NJ

Mike's car has an NOS nose.  The quarters are NOS, too--nice thing about restoring your car in 1985 is the parts were still there.

There's a 1:43 scale Marty car, too, and a postcard with him sitting on the hood with his guitar.  I don't know of anything else.  If anyone DOES know of something else, please let us know!

We also have a record with him and his 73/4 Charger--at least it helps explain the paint ;)

I was wondering if it had an NOS nose on it. I knew he had done his car several years ago, and those pieces weren't exactly easy to come by even in 1985.

Although who is to say that they didn't make 500 additional nose cones along with the 500 that were on the origional cars? I know they would have made some for replacement parts, but what figure do you suppose was deemed necesarry?

Welcome.Would like to see some pics of that Canadian daytona.

Yeah we really had to twist your arm to join up to the site didn't we Sherri?  :nana:

I'm personally glad that more and more of the people that I actually talk to at shows are starting to post on here quite a bit. Definately makes things more interesting around here. I'd rather read from people that know what they are talking about, rather than me trying to answer questions. I'd rather read answers from people who really know what they are talking about.

Sherri - I am glad to hear from you.  I haven't seen you in a while.  I thought of you last week as I was laundering Mickey D.  He is still here.  Andrew loves him.  I just got a dog, a schnauzer and am getting a cat tonight.  Both rescue animals.  I will send you pics.

Mopurr

Oh I am so excited for you and yes please send me Pictures of the new babies.

I have some bad news to tell you we lost McD  the Sat. after Thanksgiving.  He went from having a limp on the Sat. before to not able to breath that next Sat. he had been to 2 local vets as he was having problems with his legs and unable to walk by Thanksgiving. We went to U of I with him the night before he died and they did not realize he was progressing that badly.  We do not know what happened. Possibly a mass in his brain. he showed a mass or fluid in his left lung that morning, they were to run tests that day to find out what was actually happening.  I really didn't want to tell Andrew this unless you think he should know.  I love that he loves his Mickey D so much. We are so heart broken of course.  All of the vets were baffled and stunned that we lost him.  He was only 4 1/2 yrs old.

Sorry for the highjack guys.....

For those wondering... McD was our cat and Andrew's Mickey D was a beanie babie cat that I bought him at the 2005 DSAC meet.

Carol I will be watching for the pictures and I am sure Andrew is very excited about them too.

Can't wait to see you guys somewhere next year.
