Astronomy Telescope?

Anyone have one?  what's the best one for the money, I mean a good buy? and do you like yours?

For the money a dobsonion  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dobsonian is probably the best. The most light capturing aperature for the  buck. A schmidt-cassegrain http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schmidt-Cassegrain_telescope is a lot more compact, and has equitorial mounts, but are priced way up there. I personally have a 12" dobsonion, and it is worth every inch of mirror. It is an Orion brand (http://www.telescope.com/control/product/~category_id=dobsonians/~pcategory=telescopes/~product_id=20006) and has worked well. It really all depends what you want to do with it. Seems simplistic, but if all you want to do is to find Messier objects then a dobsonion is it.

Move away from Seattle to Eastern Washington or any other lightly populated area and you'll see more stars than you knew existed. Every time I go back to Eastern Oregon and look up in the night sky it feels like I'm in space. Those stars really pop when you get way out away from the city lights.

I've heard from more than one astronomist that a good set of binoculars is a great way to go if you're just getting into, or have a superficial interest in astronomy. That's probably all I'm going to use until I retire and then I plan on buying a killer telescope and doing some lunar photography.
