How cheap?  I paid about 600 bucks for mine and I know you can go up from there.  If you are just plating a small part you can use a 6 or 12 volt battery and control the current by wiring a bunch of 12v light sockets in series and using different wattage bulbs to vary the output.  It's crude and requires a bunch of experimentation to get it where you need it but it's cheap and it will work.  I'd only do that if you plan on setting up something temporary.

yeah, that's way more than I want to spend.I'll probably try the battery thing.Thanks....

Not that I have to know but what are you guys talking about?

Have you checked Caswell?

Here's their rectifier page: http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/rect.htm
smallest is around 100 bucks

Check their kits too, if you need plating supplies. It might make the whole deal that much better to buy as a kit.. http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/index.html#

I will check them out.Thanks...

Hello?  Do a little investigating.   ;)

This outfit, who '68 Hemi Troy turned me on to has what looks like the same entry level power system for over $40 cheaper.

Bull, we are talking about chrome plating, well, electroplating in general.
