Thanks for the links to the Decoder guys. It was helpful. My next question is what websites could I visit to get the most history pertaining to production #'s, color availability, engine and tranny #'s and such. I have been shopping for a couple of month's for a Cuda and it seems there are alot of 340 and 44-6pak cars but no 440-4 barrel combo. This really stumps me. The 6-pak cars are pricey and the 340 cars are nice but I want to start with the big cubic inch if at all possible. I thought the 4-barrel cars would be good for the money. I have a hang-up on original cars and don't want an altered car. Thanks again for all the help and thanks for the webspace.

That's cuz the U-code (440 4 barrel) cars were only available one year (1970) and were produced in fewer numbers than the 6 barrel versions. If you are serious, I have a friend who has his original U code 70 up for sale- it's all original, including the paint. It's also priced accordingly. If you have your heart set on a big block, a 383 car may be an affordable(?) alternative.

I haven't seen a site that specifically lists production numbers, but they are referenced all the time at various boards.

If you don't already know about it, this is a fantastic site.  It has a lot of good info for A, B, & E Bodies.  Don't let the 1970 Hamtramck Registry title fool you, look around and you'll be amazed what's there!  :2thumbs:

:Twocents: I believe the E bodies were built for small blocks, I have owned a 383, 318 and 340.  Bith the 318 and 340 handle much better than the 383.  As for power, you can make a 340 real stout without giving up handeling and ride.  you could go with a 360 ebody for less $ than a original 340.  In 70 the 340 only came in the TA and AAR and were 6pk but you could get the 340 in an ebody 4 b through 73, if im not mistaken.

If you are just talking E-bodies this is correct. But as for 'Cudas, you could get a 440 4bbl 'Cuda in '69 as well as '70.

I'm not much of an E body fan, but I was once told that there was only something along the lines of 40 or less 440 4 bbl Cuda's made in 1970. Doesn't seem right if you ask me, but then again like I said I don't know for a fact, but was only told this information.
