o.k. they put the magnum on there, but not the 300 or ... the "Sedan", which are esentually the same car... seems like a good bit of bashing to be sure, the article mentions recalls, with out being specific... Not a lot of creditable research done as near as i can tell...
All american cars,.. So were these the most recalled cars or least desirable?... not clear why these were picked, but it was clear they were picked on..
The comments following the articles were equally insightful as well...
  NOT!
Whatever, i've pretty much given up on the company and only hold out a small amount of hope for the future, you probably allready know
I'm not a huge fan of the up comming neo-chally though i am very curious to test drive a V-6 powered one and to see the price which i have been informed by a reputable member on ALLPAR will cost approx. $25k and be "Avail. at that price in one years time."
:scratchchin:  I'll belive that when i see it.

Doesn't surprise me . Even back in the Musclecar years EVERYONE HATED Mopar . In fact, I bet most Charger owners here even drove GM's or Ford's.
Lots of people talkin' , few of them know

It's 2007.   Most new car buyers have never worked on a car either.

I think the guys who decided on the top 5 were Ford guys :D

Thats an interesting article because Forbes is near the top of my personal list of "10 stupidest magazines currently published".

Funny thing though. I bet you guys would all be yukking it up and praising Forbes if the top five were all Fords or Chevys. :yesnod:

I'd bet that list is complied from all avenues of complaints - not just mechanical but looks, ride, etc. I know of several non-car guys who react in the negative to the Libertys and Nitros. These are not car people and could care less brand of manufacturer. The looks alone were the showstopper for them. And I'm sure there are many others like them. So Nitro and Liberty two don't get a chance to represent themselves for not passing the initial looks test... again for the people I'm talking about.

And as for working on a new car? I find it akin to drudgery at best and loathsome at worst. I can derive no joy or pleasure from it.

It is a pleasure to work on the old ladies.

The one I don't buy on that list is the Crown Vic.  I did a bunch of research on new cars last year and the Vic always rated high on reliability and crash test ratings...

The Liberty kinda surprises me.  I see them every were, for being among the 10 worst cars, there sure seems to be a bunch of them out there.   I would be interested in seeing the sales #s, I would bet the Liberty is among the top sellers.  As for the Magnum, I believe 08 is it's last year of production.

The railroad I work for has tons of LIbertys and they see lots of miles and lots of off road conditions. They seem to hold together and keep going. Did see one front diff get blowed out of one buit it was down in the ditch along the track trying to drag a drawbar that came out of a railcar off the tracks and it was in some prety bad conditions.

Well my wife has a Liberty and with in a span of 2 months it got T-boned twice (once on each side) and it handled it pretty well and is still driven today. They might not be very lucky when it comes to dumb @$$ drivers who are unable to read stop signs but they sure seem to hold up pretty well.

A lot of those tests crack me up.

Reliability?

I get the feeling that a lot of those testers don't draw much of a distinction between a power window switch failing in the first week versus the whole transmission exploding at 105,000 miles.

Styling?

Umm, I think the buyer knew what he was getting in that department in the first place.  I'll agree the issue is worth talking about, but don't start telling me that it rates as a "consumer satisfaction problem" after the car is bought.

Wife's car went in for some mechanical repairs yesterday and they had to order parts so it won't be repaired until tomorrow or Monday. With our schedules we have to have two daily drivers so I went to Enterprise to rent a car for her for a few days. As it would happen they just put a few brand new Sebrings into service. I got one with 15 miles on it - brand spanking new, I'm the first renter. So, I jump in the car and take off. It was a tad chilly last evening so I put the heat on, turned the heat-cool dial to the middle and proceed down the road. Well the heat comes pouring out after a couple miles, it's too hot now so I turn the dial all the way down to the furthest left blue on the dial. The heat keeps pouring out. It is hot, I have never felt a heater in a car so hot. The dang thing won't cool down so I turned the heat completely off which was the only way to stop the heat from coming out of the vents.

I pull into the garage and fiddle with the controls a bit more. Nothing helps. Conclusion - brand new Sebring - heat/cool control settings don't work. Sheesh!  :eyes:

Forbes Magazine has their own slant on things, and their editorials are written as if all their readers are independently wealthy.

Now - As a couterpoint they put in this" Forbes Life" little supplement magazine  a few times a year, mostly expensive clothes. watches, trips to europe + the himilayas, 150 foot yachts, etc.
In their issue a few months ago of this" forbes life"  they had a 1/2 page article on a "retro-performance" Challenger - done up by XV engineering !!
I almost puked all over the pages  :eek2:  [ Because it was in the mag ]

You have to read that magazine with a grain of salt, it's overall tone is skeptical 2/3 rds of the time.

I can almost guarantee , none of the editiors or writers for that rag, drive any of those cars.  They  Either drive Lexus, toyota, mercedes, audi ,  or they live in New York City and take taxis everywhere.
