For money that is....First he tries to sell his GL and tonight he was on Nip/Tuck as an ex-porn star/ video manager.  I love the guy to death...but that is ridiculous.  Can he not get a good paying gig that has a more respectful role??

The GL he was trying to sell to fund a movie project. I don't know if he ever sold it, scrapped the project or found another source of funding but that defunct Ebay auction is the last I've heard of it.

As far as doing bit parts, who knows? Maybe he's trying to expand his range. He could easily be on the brink of obscurity like many actors but it seems to me he's stayed afloat pretty well. Very few actors can survive being typecast. I'm not sure that he was typecast but he'll always be known as Bo Duke first and it's obvious to me that many actors will take unusual roles to show how versatile they are and break away from a stereotype. Who else that was on that show did or have you seen doing movies or TV shows since it ended? El zippo.

I think its just a matter of another voice from the past trying to get some work to put food on the table. I would imagine whatever funds from [Homer Simsosn]"D'oH"[/Homer Simpson] are long exhausted. While its nice to remember the old stars and shows with fondness and we don't want that image destroyed - they still got to live. And I'll bet not a lot of the Hollywood A list movie makers are beating a path to his door.

I wouldn't exactly say that, he had a pretty decent role on Smallville until they killed him off.

Well, it's not like it's Schneider's duty to live in a condo for the rest of his life so that our memory of Bo Duke isn't tarnished by any future roles of his.  The dude wants to keep acting, just like the rest of his entire zip code.

Schneider (and Wopat too) saved a lot of his DOH money back in the day and he hasn't exactly been poor since.

Now Schneider is wanting to keep doing his own DVD movies and he's pretty interested in raising money/interest in that these days.  The sale of the "$10 million dollar GL" has been motivated by that issue.  (The car was supposed to go to B-J at some point.  Probably will eventually.)

The cast members whose careers probably could have most directly benefited from their work on DOH were the older generation like Boss & Roscoe.  But by 1985 they were all worn out from the weekly grind and ready to retire on their piled-up money.

Tom Wopat probably could have spun his DOH work into a decent medium-range TV career if he had really wanted to.  But he chose to basically walk away from Hollywood after DOH.  He's turned down & quit some TV jobs over the years since then.

He actually just had small part a few weeks ago on the show Journey Man - he played a guy who was hosting a swingers party in the 70's at his house... who knows, maybe he's trying to shake his all American image by playing some shaddy characters. :shruggy:

Too bad Love Boat and Fantasy Island are off the air.

He'd be very busy.

Both of them dont have much to worry about. They both have had many country music albums and do a lot of things that dont pop up in the mainstream everyday. Wopat has done a lot of broadway play stuff. I seriously doubt John S had to take a small part in the NT show to put food on the table. Theres been many celebrity people show up on shows for as long as tv has been around. I say good for him. Probably was a fun little part to play. Got paid a little and is still in the business. As for the DOH cast members being famous, BossHog,Roscoe and Uncle Jesse were famous acters long before DOH came around. I believe Bo and Luke still get licensing $ from the Dukes stuff thats sold. You'll notice after the new dukes movie had faded the old faces were back on the packages in the stores.

NO.

It wasn't that undignified a role...it's not like they showed him having simulated gay sex or anything. And for once it was nice to see him play a role other than the wholesome-God fearing-goody two shoes he's done his entire "career". I say good for the guy.

It could very well be that he just wants a DIFFERENT type of role than his normal in movies and TV.

It's gonna be REALLY tough to shake that Bo Duke Image though.

John has taken a few parts over the years that are not the 'usual'. In the early 90's (can't remember the name of the film) he played a serial womanizer that stole money from lonely rich women. He had a small part in "Exit to Eden" where he played a professor that introduced Dana Delany's character to the world of S&M. He even portrayed a ballbusting sherriff in "Bandit: Bandit Bandit". John has the chops to pull off other roles. It should be expected that once in a while he wants to flex those muscles and show what he is capable of. I just think now he is getting some opportunities to work in some quality shows rather than the B roles in the 90's.
