Hose on trans lines?

I went to a lot of trouble to fabricate a new set of lines for my rebuilt trans and new radiator. This required me installing and removing them several times getting everthing just right. On my last install after I had gotten everthing just about right, I tightened the return line to the rad. and was doing some minor tweaking of the lines when water began to leak where the cooler fittings goes Thru the tank.The rad was under warranty so thats not a problem but, now I'm thinking I might be better off using a short length of hose to connect the lines to the rad. to avoid any similar problems in the future. This may or may not be the preferred method but I do know that over the years I've seen a lot of cars done this way especially Mopars. So what gives, should I use the factory style fittings at the rad. or use some hose :shruggy:

Personally I like everything hard lined for the simple fact I had a section of rubber trans line blow out on the parkway on my Oldsmobile back in the day....stranded me for the night.

If you do use a hose make sure its high pressure power steering type hose or hose that is suited for transmission use.  Don't use regular fuel line....

I agree stay with the hard line. Most never have any problems. That is the easiest place to solder so maybe you can just drain the radiator to fix it instead of pulling it back out. If it has been in awhile maybe it would be best to get a fresh one though :Twocents:

I've used the high pressure hose many times....no failures yet.   :yesnod:

One thing i allways  do is double clamp it at both ends and offset the clamps 180*.  ;)

I used hi pressure hose to hook up to a tranny cooler. After about 3 years they started to dry rot. Changed them yearly after that.
Have you seen my old '69 Charger??

I have had in my car FOR YEARS a hose replacing a hard line section of tranny cooling lines without problems. only problem is starting to dry out and break, but if we think I have had the car for 8 years AND WAS ALREADY ON CAR SINCE FIRST OWNER ( I'm second ).

I recomend of course hard line, and I'm getting a new one, probably will arrive tomorrow at home, but I don't think is a bad move for a temporally solution

:iagree:   in my early years I did a short 3in rubber line on a couple cars, never had any problems with the double clamping.

Now we are older, and the parts are available, I would only run a solid line myself..
