Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

Good lord.
What are they thinking. I thought as time progresses forward that these guys would want to make the daks look better not worse. I own one but it's a 98. In my opinion the best looking body gen dak ever done. Ever since then they've been getting uglier year after year. I think there doing it on purpose to help bump the numbers up an the Rams.
Just an opinion though.
Hell, they arn't even offering them in green anymore according to the Dodge site.

I like the front end a LOT better than the current one. But can't really tell what the rest looks like.

That one DOES look better than the '04-'07. I'm not saying it looks great but the '04-'07 Dakotas look like crap IMHO.

:eek2: :puke:

That looks ok but I like the 2002's wayyyyy better. We had a 2002 Dakota Sport 4x4 quad cab in Patriot blue. Traded in on something else in 2004. It was a good looking truck. I like the looks of the 2002 better than the 04-07s :yesnod:

My favorite Dakota is the '91 -'96 like mine which is a '93. I do plan on redoing mine too with a 3" lift kit and bigger tires, and tinted windows after I replace the driver side fender and both bumpers. At 222,000+ miles, the 'ol 230 horse 318 still has tons of power(no problem lighting up the tires :D ), and only uses a quart of oil between oil changes.

Yeah, I prefer my 03

Who knows, maybe with the wider front end like that they can stuff something bigger under the hood.

i was thinking of the grille and headlight angles and deflection, not so much the geometric shapes that lie within.

I'm not really seeing it. That said though most cars and trucks of certain vintages all sort of fall into similar styling categories and have since the beginning of the automobile. At any rate, I think that Honda thing is a joke. I'd like to see someone under the height of about 6'10" reach over the edge of the bed on the side and grab something out.

pettyfan43

I think that is a TON better than the previous one, I kinda like it. Has it's own look, not so much of a "compacted Ram"

I agree.  I think the new one would look better with body color grille and headlight surrounds though.

They had no where to go but up from that fugly thing they've made the last few years.

The new Dakota should be a beast with new 4.7L.  3 valve, twin spark plug. Just drove a Ram(base) with the 4.7 and was pleasantly surprised. Our dealership also has the Dakota with the painted grill and surrounds, looks awsome. Just an observation.

I like it. I hope they are squeezing a few more MPG out of it if they want it to competitive.

I like this version much better, built on the same line as the Dakota in MI.

I think I had read somewhere where they where changined the 4.7's to be kind of like a mini-hemi so that it could use the MDS system on it to improve fuel mileage.
