Didn't see it but I know about the ending.  Horrible...  :(  That's Stephen King for you though...

Khyron

I can't even comment without giving anything away, lets just say.... it was just not..... well, it just ..... I don't even know what to say.

I didn't think I would like the movie to be honest. So for those of you on the fence... I would say go see this.

It isn't what you expect. I watched it and with all the camera movement, and the acting in the beginning, i was just rolling my eyes, but I got hooked. lets face it, the plot has been done to death, but at the end, you find yourself just stairring at the screen. Even though I was expecting it. It botthered me.

I've read a lot of Stephen King and I've also seen several of the movies made based on his stories and I have to say his endings are often fairly weak, especially those featuring some unseen monster or force of nature. One of his best books that became (IMO) one of the best movies of his fiction is Pet Semetary.

TruckDriver

It looked intriguing to me. But I get grossed out at a lot of blood (even in movies), so maybe I should stay away from this one huh.

My Dad taught me about TIME TRAVEL.

I haven't seen it but if it's similar to most Stephen King novels-turned-movies there won't be any blood to speak of. He typically just messes with your head (ie. thriller-type stuff) with a lot of sci-fi mixed in. I would never have bothered reading his stuff if it were just blood and guts.

terrible one

I agree fully about PS. That book was an awesome buildup to a great climax. Definitely a good read.

. . . just turn on a radio!

Not a lot of blood, a few parts kinda creep ya out, but it's not overly gory. But even today, the ending is bothering me.  :-\

As a side note, I'm not into horror films or scary movies. I like action and such, with the exception of the Alien movies there isn't a scary one I liked, this movie.... I think.... I think I liked it, still not sure.

Let's give Stephen credit for Christine though, one of my all time Favs. but maybe it's just because i could really identify with the character of Arnie because i was myself on a "MISSION" when that film came out,..
As far as scary movies Jacob's Ladder really freaked me out, course that was a while ago now...

Oh Jeez, I thought I was the only one freaked out by Jacob's Ladder. You never hear anyone talk about that flick but it really messed with my head and I haven't seen it since it was in theaters because of that. And I still can't watch The Exorcist unless it's daylight out. Well, I can but I don't want to.

Please explain "bothered" in your response above. You mean it's a bad ending or it's freaking you out?

I saw it last week, dragged to it against my will by my gf.  The ending, fwiw, was not King's ending, it was put together by Hollywood.  All in all, I thought the whole thing sucked.  Bad acting, bad character development, bad dialogue, and the 'shocking' scenes weren't shocking enough to be scary, imo.  I'd say keep an eye out for it on cable someday, or rent it if you've got a netflix deal going....   one star.

Good Stephen King flicks are hard to come by, but I'd vote for Pet Sematary, the Shawshank Redemption, and Stand By Me.

Yes, yes and yes. All very good movies. :2thumbs: Don't forget The Green Mile.

And Silver, you really don't know what you're talking about in regard to King's imagination if you think he's psychotic. You can't even call his stuff horror (see list above for some good examples), especially his later material. There are several other writers whose style is much more disturbing than his. One that immediately comes to mind is Thomas Harris.

That was filmed in Niagara-On-The-Lake - about a 20 minute drive from here...
