Woo Hoo
I was wondering when Troy was going to hire some more enforcers.
My question is, can the mods start deleting irrelevant posts in threads? I don't surf the board as often as I use to. One reason is the amount chit chat between members in threads that have no relation to the topic of the thread. Seems like some members are just trying to pad their post count.
Another thought I had was what if we only count posts that were made in the tech forums ( if that's possible). Not sure if that would deter a true post whore. :scratchchin:
Also, I know what Troy is saying about scaring off some new members with an over-aggressive attitude, but when you have new members join the board and start posting that they just bought a 72 Charger six pac car or a 71 R/R six pac but can't get to them to take pics because they are snow bound or some other weird excuse it's hard not to be a bit cynical at times.

Regarding the post count thing, I've noticed that Moparts seems to have deleted post counts...and I bet I know why. Post counts are sort of fun, but I agree, they can be abused.  Maybe show a 'joined the site' date instead, like some sites do? :shruggy:

This place needs a serious enima,

I don't think it needs an enima....rather some rash ointment over the affected areas.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I guess I just don't understand why anyone cares how many posts they have or how many posts anyone else has. I have broke a few chops about it, but only in fun. I think it was VegasMike. He got all the way up to (3). I feel that was deserving... :D

So I guess what my my thought on this are that it can be fun as long as it is not put out in a mean or nasty way. That is why we have 99.9% nice smiley's. They ease the tension. Especially for a person that can't quit find the right way to put something.  :Twocents:

I am SOOOOOOO happy to hear we have some new moderators!!!  :2thumbs:  Congrats, guys!
1hot68 has summed it up nicely. I often come on this 'site looking for new information or advice, & to leave it when I can. It's gets pretty frustrating having to sift thru the nonsense responses that don't have any benefit at all. (Sorry, not trying to point fingers, but were the Welcome to the Jungle lyrics really necessary here???)  :brickwall:

Good point... can you get rid of all the useless crap in the "Got a pic of your Charger? Post up!......" thread.  It's on page 59 now with about 40 pages of BS responses to pics...

Of course they are :pity: (see pages 54 and 55 for one example).

I don't see a problem with most of the comments about the cars so I'd say theres only a few pages of post whore material. That's a problem we'll tackle down the road.

Fellow charger people,

first off Id just like to say that this site is the best on the web.when I found dodgecharger.com I was looking for a place to hang out, share the progress of my Charger project, and make some new friends.what i got is a whole nother family.

When I came to this website I found a nice welcome and thats why I stayed! If I would have walked in on some of the childish crap some people do around here I would have probably kept on moving. Think about the people who leave when they see this type activity and the ones that move on after a short time because of that. We could lose some really great people and not even know!

I guess what I'm saying is If you here to celebrate the Dodge Charger Then awesome, but leave the smart A** stuff at the door and save it for when you run into you're buddy with a Camaro

Lets all take part in helping the greatest site on earth grow "positive" By treating eachother with respect and courtesy!

with that said you can probably figure out what the main things I'm gonna watch for !! PLAY NICE!!         .........the people on this site are good people who share the love of chargers, and then theres some who while still sharing the love for Chargers, also like to cause trouble on the site, being rude, mean ,and disrespectful towards others! some of them will argue that its a forum of free speech and they are just expressing their feelings.well this is a Charger site not a room with a couch in it. If you have a question about Chargers, or want to help someone that does, then great but whats the thrill of being a jerk to someone derailing someone Else's  legitimate thread just so you can feel superior for a minute behind a keyboard

One of the most important things as a moderator is to not be on a power trip! The one thing that makes this site great is its relaxed and openness of posting messages.

The biggest thing for the users is to be sure and post appropriate things in the appropriate areas or messages. If its a tech question give info, ask questions or shut up and read and learn. If its a fun topic have fun with it.

The things I found out years ago when I ran a multi line BBS system was users police themselves for the most part. Make the rules clear as to what and where and let things go along. Theres enough daily work to do running a site without having to swing the ax and nit pick every post.

This is exactly what NHCharger was talking about. Nobody, and I mean nobody wants the lyrics to any song in this particular thread. If you want to express song lyrics, go to off topic and do so. With Troy's blessing, I will weed out posts inside threads that have no bearing on the topic originally started. I'm not picking on you Cody, but you are certainly high on the list of people on this site who like to have a conversation within a thread about things that have no bearing to that particular thread.

If allowed, and with the help of the other Mods, I will close the Romper Room permanently and make this place much more user friendly for mature (not old) people to visit. Tell jokes, post funny news articles. It's not the threads that are the problem, it's what happens after that usually is.  :Twocents:

It was a TV show for kids back in the sixties. I actually mentioned this show in the JFK thread in off topic, and ironically another thread you posted in and veered off course. I'm not picking on you Cody. I was a teenager once, no computers back then, just pong.
I've been trying to limit my internet time to 60 minutes a night. This includes reading the news and surfing my favorite boards. My computer is old and extremely slow (windows 98), so weeding through some of the threads with all the extra fluff can be exasperating.
