I was 2 and don't really remember the incident itself.    It'd be nice to know the whole truth before I'm dead.   I'm not inclined to believe the official fiction.

Everyone that is old enough to remember that day will never forget what they were doing when they heard the news.  I was in high school in La Canada, California.  All the classes were told to go the auditorium for a special announcement.  It was a perfect opportunity for me to visit the bathroom and sneak a cigarette.  The Principal walked in and caught me red handed.  I though I was in big trouble but, he just told me to put it out and go to the auditorium.   Bob

That happened about a year & a half before I was hatched.
Definitely a sad day for our country. Have any of you guys been to the grave site? That's on my list of things to do before I croak.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Visited Arlington grave site back in '87 (?).    Saw Dealey plaza in 93.

Man, way before my time, nevertheless a hugely important event in American History.

A professor once told me that up until 9/11, he had trouble relating to his students what kind of an impact Kennedy's assassination had on the country, and why everyone who is old enough remembers exactly where they were and what they were doing when they first heard the news.

That was one of my earlist childhood memories. Was living in Buzzards Bay,MA. My Dad was in the Air Force and got to meet JFK when he flew into the air base on his way to the Kennedy compound. I was watching either Romper Room or Bozo's BigTop (in black and white) when they broke in with the news. Was too young to understand what was going on.

i was at dealy plaza in 2006 and looked out the infamous window....you get an entire new perspective on the entire thing when you're there
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

Mike DC

My father's been there a few times.
He says the location of the shooting feels a lot more "cozy" in person that it looks on TV, and that you really do feel kinda surrounded on all sides.

There's some old french mobster dude who claims to have been approached about the Kennedy killing before it happened.  He came out about it recently, like in the last 5-10 years or so.  He says he turned down the idea of getting involved with something that big even though he didn't know exactly who they were going after yet.  He also thought that he probably helped handle the money/drugs that was used to pay the assassins later without realizing it either.

He gave specific names of the assassins he was talking about, where they were from, etc.  He mentioned that there were indeed three shooters.  He said the frontal hit (head-shot) on Kennedy was done with an explosive bullet.

Interesting.  I dunno whether he's right, but it's a hell of a lot more specifc than anyone else claiming to know the story has ever been.

I went there as well , stood on the exact spot in middle of road , I will never forget it !

OldGuy

I remember it well.  I was a junior in high school sitting at my desk in a drafting class during 4th period when the announcement came over the intercom.  A month previous (October 1963), our Advanced Social Studies class had gone to Salt Lake City to hear him talk at the Tabernacle on Temple Square.  So, it hit pretty hard - actually seeing him and hearing him talk a month earlier.

I was in kindergarten at the time- didn't really register too much with a 5 year old, but I clearly remember my parents both being very upset and crying about it. That left more of a lasting impact on me than the event itself. I vaguely remember the funeral procession on TV as well.
