anyone ever tune a dixie horn. got one for free but it hits sour notes. thanks

If certain notes sound fine right and others don't, then either the air supply to some of the horns is restricted or else it's just built that way.

(Not all Dixie horn setups are created equal, and over the years some companies have made them with certain notes a little "off.")

Get it working properly ?

Keep in mind there are two different air horn versions available: an 11 note version (which sounds a little off), and the proper 12 note version (which sounds even better if you wire it to a dimmer switch to make it play even slower/longer).

It goes beyond the note number. The Italian ones play/sound correct versus the Chinese ones that are currently sold under the Wolo brand.

Interesting, I'll have to look into that.

How's Lee 1 doing?  Going to Dukefest 2008 this year Jim?

Got the word on the change direct from the owner of Wolo. The change of country was made for cost effectiveness and the compressor motors are different. Infact, even the color code for the hoses is different. Though the nipples come out in the same cross like formation. He sent us two NOS units. One went in Lee1 after the unveiling (it was unveiled with an old one with the chrome plated trumpets that sounded terrible), the other went in my car. I used the Chinese trumpets still in my car and the compressor made all the difference. Its on the money now.

I have no plans on going to Dukesfest, but I wont say it is absolutely not going to happen. The same goes for Lee1.
