Promise this car will never see rust again!

These guys aren't playing - assembly has begun!!! Knocked out a ton for 4-5hrs in one day...

This thread is going to get exciting in the next few weeks - they are planning on having the car on wheels and the engine in its place by the end of next week!

It's looking great! Make sure they remember to black out the radiator support before they get too much assembled.

man, that would drive me nuts if i knew the roof waznt all painted, but i guess if it doesnt see the elements too much it'll be ok, it couldnt of cost that much to paint that lil bit' o roof though right??  i guess i'm just not a fan of vinyl since thats what killed the roof on my charger......hehe, or maybe its cause i gotta do all the sheet metal myself, i'd put like 9 or 10 coats on that sucka!!!!  anyways, thas one bad ass hemi mobile!!!

Mine is the same way, no filler and its currently in for paint. I made sure they won't fill it in on my car.

hemi68charger, pardon if I've asked you this but is that Q5 on your car? Thanks

Tom

Brandon..
Man, I tried to stop by today on my way to Madisonville to look at a complete 1970 426 Hemi / 727 k-member assembly.. For the life of me, I couldn't find anything and the place that appeared to be the 800 street number was a locked up abandoned-looking structure with a lot of classics around......  Too bad, I wanted to see your car.

Now THAT is some beautiful resto work there!!!  :drool5: :drool5: :drool5: :drool5: :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:

Car really looks good.

Keep me posted on that fuel sending unit as well. I've found they never EVER read correctly out of the box. I've always had to remove them & tweak the float arm to get them to read right.

Brandon..
If I may..  you'll notice the stitching in the seams of the pad... You may be better off trying to get some good used ones and if push comes to shove, you just have to reclue/adhere the pad backing to the frame.

I found these on the web:

Jim M's interior:

Another shot.. You'll notice the "stitching" both.. notice right below the radio on the pad

I personally would not replace the pads because of the stitching. The just dashes pads while not "correct" still look great, and you will more than likely be buying several sets of originals trying to put together a nice usable set.  If anything I would wait till the repro pads from BE&A become available.

tic toc,, tic toc.. I believe black ones could be found sooner than later..... At the level of restoration this car's at, it would be a shame......

I never noticed that, but of course I don't pay that close attention to 1968-70 Chargers like I used to....

Some reproduction dash pads WERE totally obvious, and those stuck out like turds in a punch bowl for those "in the know". However, I will say that the lack of faux stitching certainly doesn't play well for JUST DASHES at this day and age  :eek2:

80% of the collector car world might never know the difference - - especially the Barrett- Jackson "big money collector types". :yesnod:
