bullit hit it on the head. I really don't think people would be that pissed if you had scored a 318 donor car.

I'm not a numbers guy, so I hate to see any Charger be chopped up.  318 or 383.

bz.thanks for posting about your hemi charger resto.i always check out that thread as i too have a 69 rt hemi 4spd project car.i'm sure you sometimes wonder why you do it ,when you get all that negative response.its only because the people here are PASSIONATE about their chargers.why else would they be here?i agree that sometimes you need a good solid parts car to cut up.the stickler here is that you are cutting up a rare one to do it.as far as production numbers go,thats open to alot of debate.the 432 and 207 being 4 spd's i agree with as they have been published and generally accepted for years.its also well known that chrysler never kept records of option combinations so to say 1 of 10 with this and that option is purely speculation.even for the experts.for years now the mopar mags have printed stories about the "only two produced" 66 hemi chargers painted in mauve metallic paint(mopar action aug 03 i think).they take those quotes from the experts.well i have one.which makes three.there is/was probably more.my point is there is no way of knowing exactly.rare sure, how rare, who knows.

well, I'm waiting to get the report back from Galen - of course, all his numbers are "known to exist" from cars he's accumulated in his database, which is probably the most extensive out there just because of his name.  I've already learned quite a bit about the car that I didn't know to begin with, so he's helped enough to earn his fee... like I said before, I'll post his information after I get it back from him...

good luck on your hemi charger project also! would you mind PM'ing me some details on the car?

Brandon,

Here is a thread on how to do a roof replacement on a B-body.  http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,31756.0.html

Thanks for the link, Paul....

My A-pillars are gone too, so that is a big hurdle for us structurally...

A Solid rustfree donor car is the way to go in my Opinion. Aftermarket fits like crap & aftermarket does not make all the small little hidden pieces you may need. I've replaced roofs, no big deal. Good luck. LEON. :pity:

Nope, no fender tag (yet) - but I did have someone on the "inside" trying to do some dirty work for me  :D  he was offered a pretty penny if he could score it...

I hate to hear you have to pay more money to get something that belonged on the car in the first place.  :icon_smile_angry:

Honestly, I wouldn't bother with it. You have the buildsheet right?  ....that's more important than any original fender tag. A proper fender tag can always be made from the buildsheet.  What good does a rusty fender tag do for you anyway?? I'm sure you don't want that P.O.S on the car when its restored right?? So your better off getting a proper reproduction made from the buildsheet. I wouldn't give a wooden nickel for a rusty tag at this point.  :Twocents: :Twocents:

Rusty or not, it'd be nice to get the fender tag just to own it out of spite.

I guess you're right.  But  in this case, ......It's the previous owners "spite" that's keeping him from getting it.

With what that car is worth and all the work and time going in it, I would pay big time to get that tag.  It ain't right, but it's a very important original piece of the car that is missing.  I'd pay.  I'd tell the guy if you think you could find it, I'd be willing to pay for your time.   Then you could handle it differently later on if needed, if you know what I mean.   :D   :patrol:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

hemi-hampton

I get the feeling the guy never lost the tag, so it doesn't mtter how much you offer for it to find it when he's got it & never lost it. He just wants to be a A-hole. LEON. :brickwall: :-\

bzabodyn

he's definitely just being an asshole...

Galen is making a reproduction tag in addition to everything else I got him to do... I should be getting some of his paperwork in the mail any day now...

Any updates this week?   :popcrn:

Not any that people around here want to hear about... (chop/chop - metal work beginning - deciding what stays/what goes)... disassembly done... I hope to make a trip up there in the next 2-3 weeks and probably won't have a big update (with pictures) until then...
