I WILL NEVER DRIVE one, sit in one, or otherwise think of one as a muscle car until they (DC) make something that resembles a muscle car. ..... AND NO THEY(muscle cars) do not have 4 doors. PERIOD.....   I think those are called SLEEPERS..... an undesirable car bought by someone that could not have the real thing and added some performance mods to grandmas car..... ::) :rotz:

THERE THAT IS MY OPINION....

OFF THE SOAP BOX

You'll never drive, sit or think of one as a musclecar?   Then it's your own, narrow minded loss.   How can you logicaly decry the new Charger without having sampled it?   Musclecars are known for being such because they perform well above your tyipical autobmobile.   I don't like Chrysler's decision to reskin the 300 and then call it a Charger, but after having test driven and fully experienced a new Daytona Charger at a car show, that the dealer rep.'s allowed my '69 to park by for kicks during the whole show, I have to say that I am impressed.   Ride quality, build finish,

WELL NO MUSCLE CAR I AM AWARE OF HAS 4 doors.  Maybe I should say that I will consider a Muscle car.  PERIOD.  I am glad you liked it and sat in it and drove.  GOOD for you.   I WILL NOT.  I have 2000 Firebird Trans Am/ Ram Air.  NOW that is performance and comfort.  They wanna make a return to muscle car that is it.  NOT A 4 DOOR.

Me and my narrow mind are just fine the way it is. :flame:  :boxing_smiley:

No muscle cars that I'm aware of were made after 1974, so, what's your point?

Muscle cars can certainly make a comeback.  The problem is that the manufacturers across the board need to do them right.  Instead, they all seem to have this perverted desire to "re-invent" them.  Seems to me that whoever invented the wheel did a pretty good job of it; it's been around for centuries.  Muscle cars don't need to be re-invented.  Improved upon, certainly.  The improvements, however, should not include changing the basic body style of mid-size, TWO door car.

Ghost, you beat me to it.  That's what I was thinking while reading this thread.

Call the new "Charger" the greatest car ever if you must, but just don't call it a muscle car.  Muscle cars came to and end in the 70s, and probably won't ever come back.  (Large gas guzzling V8s, easy to work on, two doors, muscular styling, etc.--it's an era that has passed, get 'em while you can).

The beatings will continue untill morale improves, or the new Charger gets re-designed, which ever comes first. :icon_smile_big:

I was speaking with my past receptionist the other day.  I NEVER THOUGHT OF THIS.  MOST people do not know anything about the OLD charger only the new ones.  Also, same for the GTO.  I was speaking with her son and he does not know the old GTO and charger and thinks the new ones are pretty cool.

I guess its a matter of what you know and have seen.  Are 30+ years of advancement in car building better yes.  So people only know what they see now.

So..... I will lessen my stance and these youngsters ahhhh hemmmmm.... for the most part do not know about the original CHARGER.....as us old guys do.   Not that you have to be young to own a new charger.....ahhhhh  hemmmmm

I think this i due to the fact that many, both Charger and other classic car owners, let their cars sit in their garage and never (almost) take it out for a spin..
How will the youngsters discover and fall in love with the classics when they never get to see one?

We have a saying: "Jesus-car" wich meens that its a car everybody has heard about but nobody ever have seen.

I try to drive my car as often as possible. Even in the rain.. I have bought the car to enjoy it, not to have it sitting in a garage just to look at once in a while.

:drive:

Just my 2cents..

i drive my 72 almost everyday during the decent weather,i agree that to many cars get squirrled away and never seen, except to get dusted by the owners once in a while, and trevor creed is still a dick

i sat in a new charger about 2 weeks ago, id be damn happy to have one.  they are a very nice car!  as far as being a muscle car? hmm ill bet a new charger would spank about 80 percent (probably higher) of this boards true "muscle cars" in the 1/4 mile. let alone out stop it, out drive it, out corner it, better gas milage.   they wont touch either of my cheapo plymouths though . but the 69 dodge we have in the family would be in serious trouble  :yesnod:

personally i think they should have called the car a magnum coupe or something like that.ya using the charger name doesnt really fit but aleast it is redeaming itself from the last go around with the name!. if i was to by a new car in that price range for the family id buy a new 300 first, then the charger. if my daughter was gone from home it would be a new mustang cobra.
