O.k. now I'm starting to get extremely P.Oed and well, I've never been one to tip toe around things, so lets see who here can help.

My last name is fairly rare, not a lot of us around however we're scattered around the North East. Well, Some relative has have my last name registered as a .Com for over 10 freaking years. All the site has is a "Comming soon" text and nothing else...

Thats it...

The dude has tied up my name too long, Time to use it or let me register it and build a site with a family tree or something useful, maybe some history of the family. I don't know, but I want the name.

How should I email this "relative" and ask him to give up the domain he's done nothing with for 10 years.

and no, I don't want a .com, .org, or any of that. I want my .com

I would say to e-mail him/her and ask if (s)he has any actual plans to use the site if not then if he could free it up. It might help if you tell the person what your plans are with the site.  Maybe they will be willing to help.
