Sounds like a good candidate for a race car, to me. :drive:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I agree! its a big deal if its for parts or as mentioned, a race car then no big deal but if your buddy wants something else them stay away. I know of a 71 rt charger with no vin that's enough for me to not want it despite it being a nice car.

If you want to buy a car without a vin be prepared to do jail time  :Twocents:

haven't looked yet but can u get paperwork on the car from the vin in the radiator core support... :shruggy:

if your talking about getting a new tag made up i always thought you needed the broadcast sheet  :shruggy:

69charger2002

the whole vin is not stamped on the radiator core support.. usually just the last 6 or 7.. so there is no way to do it based on the core support.. or trunk numbers etc. even a 68 fender tag would do you no good as it doesn't have a vin either

contact your local DMV and ask them - I believe they sometimes issue a new vin plate that they rivet to the door frame.

We had one customer who bought a car that already had the VIN replaced - other than that i have never had an issue like this - - -  best advice would be going to the DMV - they are the ones who make the rules afterall    :2thumbs:

Assuming the car was not stolen, your DVM can issue a state assigned VIN for it.

Check with them BEFORE you buy, it can be a very time consuming effort in some states.

I'm trying to tell him to stay away from this.  Most state DMV records don't have any info on the 13 digit vin's of old cars.

Here in Rhode Island, I can give them any vin # I want and they will print it on my registration.

I owned a 1985 Toyota Celica Convertible.  Somebody stole it and they stole the vin plate.  I had it revinned through the State of Rhode Island.  It was a Sticker placed on the A pillar.  It was a complete joke.

My Insurance company wouldn't accept it and even the registry wouldn't accept it.  I had to use the original vin.

With that being said.  Everytime I was pulled over.....

A......I had to explain why there was a VIN plate missing on my dash............

B......Do you know how expensive court is????????

Tell your friend, it's not freaking worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ghoste

There are plenty of 68's out there so that your buddy should not have to get too worried about not finding another one.  I would let this one go and just watch for a 68 with it's paperwork and identity intact.

Hemidoug

Part it or race it....you ain't gonna register it!
