So...      I have had this problem for a while...     I purchased an AR-15 lower reciever a long time ago and never got around to building it...    stupid CA gun laws and all...          so...     I just contracted my buddy to build it (Being an Army Airborne Ranger he gets "Adda Boy" discounts at most places)  -    so...         Looking like a Bushmaster 5.56 Upper (M4 model) - Trijicon ACOG - M4 butt - and the all pathetic CA mandated 10 round magazine...          but oh well...          it'll be nice when me and my buddys go to AZ to shoot and slap in 30 round mags...

anyone else here own and AR-15 ?

I own one.  I traded my Armalite AR50 for it and a S&W 460.  It's a Rock River Tactical CAR UTE2.  I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but I have 2 BETA drums waiting for it.  I had a Bushmaster XM15-ES2.  It was a great rifle.  I put aobut 6500 rounds through it and sold it for $50 less than I originally paid for it.

I'm all for gun ownership rights and all, but that's a little overkill (no pun intended).

You only need one, right Ponch? Right, how about you apply that logic to women and cars?

ChgrSteve67

You need at least three.

One to shoot back with while you are reloading the other.

Also a spare to protect yourself while the police are holding the ones you defended yourself with.

the story i heard was the shipping companies will have to start getting special permits to carry the stuff, like hazzard materal permits or something to that nature. :shruggy:

That was actually something that OSHA was trying to get passed and did but the supreme court ruled it unconsitutional back over the summer.  Plan was to require permits to transport ammo and then manufactures could only produce X amount a year, then gun owners were to have a limit on how much they could buy.  Luckily it got shot down, :2thumbs:

dukeboy_318, thanks for clearing that up but as you said buy right now while you can, it will always go up in price. i just bought a Star 9mm Super A handgun built on that 1911 frame the other day and it will shoot darn near anything you can run through it coarse it doesn't like 9x17 shells to well but it will shoot them one at a time.
i have been trying to buy guns that will shoot more then one type of ammo just in case a certain size gets harder or more expensive to find.

Why not get the standard .45?  The 1911 was based off the .45 so finding one in the much smaller 9mm caliber is going to be difficult.  You might be better off buying a standard .45 and also buying a 9mm conversion kit if it is available.  I havn't looked but it is probably out there.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want a 1911 chambered in 9mm?

mally69

Yea , here in PA the ammo is getting outrageous for everything ,from what i hear they are going to crack down on the purchasing ammo  since they can't get the the guns. Heck, my little cousin has a .17 rimfire and he always went to walmart to buy shells for it  untill one day told him that he had to be 21 to buy them instead of 18, i had to go buy them for him it was ludcris...

the 1911 frame is a very popular frame among many of the different manufactures and i have seen them priced all over the board. if you can find a local gun show i would go to one of them and look at all the different brands and see if any of them meet your price range.

Just my  :Twocents:    I think these guns laws and restriction are 100%  :icon_bs: :icon_bs:  My resoning on this is, How many crimes do you hear of that consist of assualt weapons and military style guns ( hardly ever ) most crimes use handguns and shot guns, but yet it still seems to me that people are still attacking the assault weapons or military style weapons. I  LOVE guns and i Don't want them going after pistols and shotguns either. How hard is is to conceal an AR-15 or an AK-47, It would be pretty hard... I hate guns laws/ restrictions,  those anti gun people can stick there laws right up their  :moon:  People kill people, NOT guns, anything is this world can be made to kill someone, So why blame it ALL on guns????  Why is it that no other country in the world  would dare to set their troops on foot into this country. Becuase I have guns, YOU have guns, my neighbor has gun  his brother ... etc....   That is what makes this country strong, Also all the troops that we have fighting or have fought  for our freedom make it even STRONGER :patriot:  ( Thank you fellas)  and then you have people trying to take that way from us. Guns are absoluetly The second best hobby i have ( charger's 1st) but they are so much fun to have and own, and some  people that don't like them evidently has never had the chance to get out there set up a few targets and fire away at them..  I beleive or think  that car crashes claim more victims/year than people using guns
These are just some of my thoughts ....

very good point indeed.

to be honest it should be the other way around and folks should be required to carry, atleast that would give the criminals something to consider when they go to rob someone.

the way it stands now a criminal only has to worry about spending a small bit of time if they are caught, but if everyone carried then they would have to worry about being shot first.

from what i have seen over the years a crimial is only worried about having the upper hand when robbing someone but if the playing field was equal then the chances of them considering the crime would go down.

someone correct me, but wasn't there a small town in Texas where folks were required to carry and the crime rate fell by nearly 90%?
