Charger in the Movie American Gangster

Went to see the movie American Gangster last night.  Lots of old cars, one brief cameo for a 68 Charger, looked to be blue and a little weathered.  Good Movie!

I rented that flick a few days ago and paused it on the Charger. I liked seeing it but the way they portrayed these cars (and the Charger imparticular) in this movie was strange. For one thing I saw a '70 Challenger in one scene when it was supposed to be 1968. Time travel? It's pretty common for movie cars to be a little too fresh for the movie they're in but two years early is a bit much. On the other hand the Charger was way too weathered for the year. The story took place over a period of a few years to that excuses some of it I guess but the Charger looked 20 years old at least, instead of the 0-3 years old it was supposed to be.

Still, it was a great flick. I enjoyed seeing all the old cars and classic styles. http://imcdb.org/movie.php?id=765429

I haven't seen that one yet. I didn't realize some cool Mopars were in it.

i forget exactly where it was.. at the one hour mark maybe. but me and my brother were bored and paused it on one scene. where they are checking the money in the trunk of a guy's car. if you look across the street, just for a brief second, you can see a glitch. parked over are a bunch of newer cars, and what looks to be a lexus/toyota in front. just funny to see the newer 00+ models across the street lol

Yea, that movie was wholly ignored for some reason. I think it deserved something.

There's also a 71 Charger in the same lot as the car with all the cash in the trunk.

Isn't that a Chrysler minivan right here in front of Denzel's face? I don't think those were around in 1968. Or '70.

I actually worked on a movie back in the early 1990's...starred an unknown actor named Russell Crowe.
(BTW: He's alot shorter than you might think).
What was surprising, is the set people dressed a downtown street in the city I was in, to look like the 1940's. It was very well done too...but only in the angle of field of the cameras' pan.
Everything on either side was completely current.
My wife and I were invited to the premiere of the flick, and after watching the finished product, a person couldn't tell that it wasn't a period movie.
They did their job very well.
