Is that the Telvis-mobile?

A little earlier on the PM's and that baby would have been living in California...! Good luck with it. You're going to have lots of fun!  :2thumbs:

I haven't been following Telvis' posts on his Charger much in the last while, I didn't know he'd gotten that far on it.

Congrats & keep posting progress pics.

It was a foggy/misty morning and the water drops played hell with the pictures. There are no scratches on it.

Chris,
I am glad my car is with someone who will take care and finish it. I hope you get many years of enjoyment out of it. The car isn't perfect but I put a lot of time and effort into trying to make it that way.

Now, all of you who think I am gone and no longer in "Charger mode" you are wrong. I plan to get married in April. My house should be on the market within the next  two weeks. Once mine sells, we are going to sell my future wifes home and buy a place of our own together. I will be getting the big garage that I have always wanted. Hopefully I won't have to build one but I am prepared to if need be. Once we get settled in the new place I am going on a mission to find a finished F8 Charger. Hopefully this time next year I will be hugging my new wife while looking at my Charger as it sits in my new garage! :yesnod:

Congratulations to both buyer and seller in this case.

OK, I have the car in a good spop in the shop. Easy to work on and out of the way. I am getting ready to dismantle the interior, but I have a few small areas to fix first. Telvs had someone do the body work for him. The guy did an awsome job on the body as you can see. I think he got tired by the time he got to the trunk. There is a lot of fiberglass in the trunk. I don't know why because the metal is pretty good, just a few tiny holes. I want to strip the trunk out including the seam sealer. Then clean and rust seal the metal, reseal the seams and reshoot the red color. Let's see how it goes.

The trunk pan is in pretty good shape. The center section was replaced, but it was overlapped. I think I will remove it, trim it and butt weld it back in. The areas where the trunk meet the wheel well are in great shape so I really don't want to mess with them. No need to replace the whole pan for just a few really small holes. My friend does paint and body work. I will check to see what is best for sealing bare metal. I know n body panels they use metal etching primer or epoxy primer. In the trunk something thicker could be used like POR 15.

great!!!! yea if you don't need to replace it then the better!!! i wasn't sure how th rest of it was?!?!?

That fiberglass thing is pretty odd. Doesn't look like he even prepped the metal very well, before laying the fiberglass on. I bet it would have been a rust magnet that way, so it's a good thing you're taking care of it now. :yesnod:

The rest of the car looks great & I'm jealous of your amount of work space. :)

i had a terrible expeience with por 15  would not bond to even brand new sheet metal , I would rethink using it

When I started working on the trunk the fiberglass pealed right off. Underneath was some rust and soda. The glass was put right over crud. It was a definate future rust issue. Tim told me he had two different body guys work on the car. It is obvious whoever did the body was not the same guy that did the trunk.

The work space is not quite as roomy as it seems. There are a lot of cars and crap piled in there. I hope to clear out a project here and there and make more room.

What about cleaning the metal and maybe brazing the small holes and repainting ?   POR-15 sells a trunk floor resto kit i believe that is good for smaller sized holes.

Yes, sounds like a good plan. I might used Allmetal for the small holes, then sand it smooth, prime it with metal etch and respray the color. Just a good cleaning back there will really help.

Today I started a little on the interior. My wife and I worked on gutting what was left in there. Now just the dash and headliner to go. We cleaned out all the old seam sealer and started on the small amount of surface rust. These floors are solid. Just a little surface rust in the little U channels on the floor. We are going to do the same as the trunk - clean, seal and paint. I know you cannot see it when it is done, but I will know it is there.

Stated a llittle more on the interior today. I went to Sears and bought a couple wire wheels for my grinder. It took that rust right off.

Ooohhh.....nice clean metal under there.

Next we worked more on gutting the interior.

OK, This is my first '68 Charger so don't rag on me. It took me about 30 minutes to figure out the damn ashtray. I was trying to tilt it out like on a '69. I was on the verge of breaking it when I accidently slid it down.  :brickwall:

Then I discovered Telvis' hidden coin collection.  :icon_smile_big:

66 A100 - 68 Charger - 69 Charger

Finally, we got the dash out and removed the fresh air box on the drivers side. I am glad I pulled it out. I would have hated to be going down the road at about 60 then pull the handle. I am sure that would have been a face full of crap.

I am thinking of using Lizard Skin on the interior surfaces. Has anyone here used it? Anything good / bad about it?
