Anyone here actually prefer column shift on their Charger?

I converted a column shift auto to a floor shift with console a long time ago and I've been kinda toying with the idea of putting it back. Seriously, I probably won't do it but I think about it often maybe because it seems different to me just because.  Anyone here really like their column shift?

I'll take my column shift anyday cause i like the buddy seat for a place to put my arm...with the console there's nowhere for it.

I switched mine from column to the floor and love it. As far as resting my arm, I just grip the shifter. It adds to the driving experience.

I dont have a colume shifter and would never want one. kinda lame IMO. it just doesnt say "muscle car" IMO.

I had to have a console because I think they look good. However, my wife looks good too and I wouldn't mind her taking up that spot.

In the day, I ordered my '71 with buddy seat/column shift for female space.  Today, I'd go console.

six of my eight mopars have been on the wheel so it seems natural. But i like the console on the Charger and the 300M wouldn't have it any other way unless it was a four speed. they have all been autos, and a four speed would be bitchen.

For me, it kind of depends on the car.  Overal, if it's more to the luxury side, like a 69 SE with ac and power windows and 383 or smaller, I kind of like the idea of the lever being on the column.  Give me any E-body or a Hemi car and I think it should be a console shift.  I say that, but my 68 Road Runner was column shift and somehow it seemed natural in that case (the stripped down look I guess).

out of all my cars i only have one that is auto on column. and i won't change it.. i like how it is different from the rest. it definitely doesn't feel or look as muscular, but i seriously like being able to plant my right elbow on it while cruising. it's a no can do on my console shift cars...and leaning towards the left upper pad or the cheap new arm rests isn't very comfortable either..

I'll admit that having a place to lay my arm in other vehicles is nice, but in my Charger, if it's a choice between a place to lay my arm or having a floor shifter & console...I'll take the floor shifter & console.

I like the column shift in my 69 R/T. I did consider buying a Go Man Go orange Challenger T/A that had the bench/column auto set up. While I knew it was rare I couldn't buy a trans am car that had a column shift.

I like the column shift on my Charger. Of course, the next Charger I buy will probally be a 4spd.

I could deffinately go either way on this , consoles are cool , but so are buddy seats  but , the easy way to decide is put in a manual transmission and you can have a console or a buddy seat.

You won't in a 66 because they were all console shift (the three speed manual may have been column shift but I can't recall for sure off the top of my head and I'm too lazy to look it up).  It's also a very rarely seen feature in 67.  As for the 3rd gens, myself I haven't seen that many that weren't column shift.

I prefer consoles, but I don't hate columns. I've had both. I definately wouldn't change it back though...

Actually , Street Racers back in the day preferred column shifts. I believe if you could find the stats, there were more column shift Mopar muscle built between 65 - 74.

I made sure to order the column shift with the buddy seat / armrest when ordering my original R/T back in '68.  No way was I going to put out the bucks for a chick magnet like the new Charger and put a big chunk of plastic and chrome between me and my date for the evening.  I have many sweet memories now that may not have happened if I had a big console stuck between myself and a few beautiful young ladies (now old ugly grandma's) when out at various parking areas in southern california.  Of course, now my current Charger has a floor shifter.  I am not as flexable as I used to be, so what's the use.    Bob

  Significantly more.  It's only been in the last decade that it seems like all Mopar musclecars came with consoles  .  It's directly related to the number that had the crap beaten out of them for years and years and now they all have original matching number engines.

Buckets seats and consoles are ok but I just assume have a column shift with a bench seat. I would never waste my money and time coverting a column shift to a floor shift. 
Column shifts are more old school.
I seen a guy buy a very original one owner 66 SS chevelle. The unusual thing about this car is the fact is was a bench seat with a four speed. It had a real kool curved shifter handle that curved around the bench seat and fit right into your hand. The first thing this guy did was install bucket seats and a console to look like all the other thousands of chevelles with bucket seats.
In my opinion he messed it up but I guess it could be put back someday.

I prefer console but my '72 is a colum and I left it that way for the samew reasons 66 just said ...EVERYONE has bucket seats and a console, just look around at a car show, it's nice to be diffrent
