we got to drive the charger last night!   It was so awesome.  It felt so good sitting behind the wheel and the thing actually grumbling and moving!  Maybe next time we will actually go somewhere and not just out of the garage, down the driveway and onto the street!  LOL  There are no brakes, so we couldn't go far and there is no power steering so it was a pain to stear!  But I did have fun.  My neighbor was shocked that hubby let me drive it!  LOL.

exciting huh?... well, your hooked now!  :smilielol:

Charger_Fan

That sounds about like mine! Mine just makes a trip or two to the end of the driveway every summer...no power steering & I have to lift the hood to shift the trans into reverse. :smilielol: (I should really put the linkage back together ::) )

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I've had a few of those "down the driveway and back" runs myself.
so...WHERE'S The Pics!!!!!

years ago, i was in the same boat as your hubby (couldnt get the charger started) it had been sitting awhile and when i finally did...what a awesome feeling! the next step for you guy's is to get her on the road  :2thumbs: BTW, as much as i wanted you to get that 71, i think you guy's have done the right thing by getting hubby's car going first (you can get your 71 later) congrats

68chrgrwife

Well, We drove it down the driveway (which is steep and with no brakes that was a lot of fun) and parked it on the street.  We needed to move it out of the garage for some garage space, for a little while.  We didn't want to park it on the driveway due to the amount of the incline and the wonderful story we heard on here about a member losing their park from keeping their car on the steep driveway.  I a week or two it will make its next journey back up the driveway and into the garage!  WooHoo a second time to drive the car...LOL

I know the joy of driving a classic muscle car..I did own and drive a 73 Chally.....

I think we did the right thing about the 71 too.

Has the letter arrived with the increase in your life insurance?   :icon_smile_wink:

What DID you do about the '71?

Ghoste

Congratulations, but I have to think that if your neighbours are shocked that you got to drive, they must not know too much about either one of you.

The70RT

You mean it is sitting in the street for a week or two? I hope you have insurance. Most classic car insurance won't cover that. Theft and the chance of it getting hit would be on my mind.

Not too worried in our neighborhood of a hit or stolen....we live in military housing you can only drive 10-15 mph down our street and there are speed bumps like every 2 feet.  No life insurance paperwork yet...LOL  and I let the 71 go.  We just told the guy we can't do it right now.  he said whenever.....we'll see what happens next.  We have pics all over this board of our car.....

We didn't want to park it on the driveway due to the amount of the incline and the wonderful story we heard on here about a member losing their park from keeping their car on the steep driveway.

I had a 340 duster with a 4spd. No parking brake. One day a neighbor rings my bell and asks me if that is my car. She points to her house which is dead center in a T interestion and there's my car sitting under her tree! I put the car in gear but it must have popped out. It rolled all the way down to her house "christine style". Thank God no one was hurt and the car was undamged. Freaky at the time, but looking back...pretty funny.
