Oil Spill in CA?

ain't that big a deal really, we had a much worse spill here in the '70s, the media has been hyping up this story, cause they've figured out they can scare folks with the words "ecological disaster" and folks are attached to the bay in a really kinda' stupid way...
As one who used to work in the media biz i can tell ya' with a high degree of certainty, scare tactics sell papers...

great day for the politicos who get to tounge lash some unnamed evil doer and makes a great sound bite to prove how green they are,..
today it's an ecological nightmare and pretty easy to cover for the media, since everyone gets to call a press confrence and more money will get spent on the rightious indignation and they've got 400 workers (specially trained workers BTW) cleaning up the beaches,..
a special ward has been set up to clean the 70 oil stained sea birds, but ya' know what?...

I'll let ya' in on a little secret...

I had read back at the turn of the century that ecological services is one of the biggest growth industries for the new millenium.

The world's environmental problems are not typically created by modernized people who've already got reams of environmental laws they must follow in order to live their everyday lives. I get so annoyed with the green movement because they are so narrow-minded about that. They blame industrialized nations for all the ills while poor people in third-world countries go unchecked and dump garbage wherever they feel like it, kill off way more trees and animals than they need to and generally abuse the hell out of their surroundings. They get a free pass because they are labeled poor and uneducated. Well if you're so green get off your high horse, stop bugging the people who already agree with your theories (mostly) and move to Mexico, India, Pakistan, North Korea or China and preach your gospel to the governments and people abusing the planet there.
