I've got a set of valve covers that look exactly like factory valve covers.  They have the all the tabs and everything.  What could these be off of?  I'd like to get rid of them, but don't know what to ask or anything.  I was going to sandblast them and powdercoat them, but started researching and that has definitely stopped me from wanting to do that.  I appreciate your help.

Thanks!
Paul

I've asked about the engine dress up option before and noone seems to know anything about it...
my sixpack shortblock came with them i'll post a pic...
why do you want to sand blast them?..

1967 440 HP's in Coronet R/Ts and GTX's had chrome valve covers on them from the factory. I also have a set. They are fairly valuable to the right people.

I was going to sandblast them and paint them wrinkle black.  Didn't know they were anything, thought they may have just been aftermarket.  Would it be better if I just clean them up and put them on eBay rather than trying Craigslist and the like?

C_stripes

I would.  You could probably buy some nice MP ones for what you get out of them.

Chrome valve covers were offered as an option for the 1964 street wedge and Max Wedge engines.

Were they not on the 68 383 Darts as well :scratchchin:

I would like to submit for your concideration that I was just parusing a classic car book in my Library in the east wing this a.m. and it stated that Jensen Interceptors which were motivated by 383 and 440 Magnums under the bonett in the late to mid sixties and 1970s had "Chromed Valve Covers". And If you should care,.. The Jensen Interceptor F.F. were four wheel drive vehicles. and for a few short years were driven by some extreamly high profile owners...

alot of the photographs on the wb show the jensen badged valve covers

but the photo in the book clearly shows the american style chromed big Block style...

FYI:

Joshua

They may just be aftermarket chrome V/C's, as there are copies of factory covers....pretty common.

TripleBlackGator

They could be Direct Connection pieces from the late 70's.  :Twocents:

Anyone know if the factory chrome covers have a part number on them someplace?

MY UNDERSTANDING, BAISED ON I FORGET NOW,...  :poke: is,..  that there was an engine dress up option with chromed valve covers and chromed dipstick,...
