There were many reports that the United States was going to get refurbished over the years... yet it still sits.

I got a couple pics in the distance from the New Jersey last Feb.

Black Betty:  1969 Charger R/T - X9 440 six pack, TKO600 5 speed, 3.73 Dana 60.

my parents took her to Europe on their honeymoon back in '54, somewhere i have pics of them on board, looking very sharp and very much in love. Just last year i tossed my dad's old luggege that had a sticker from her on it from the united states... It was really hard to toss it and alot of his/their stuff too.. :'(

That thing is a monster. Its sad to see it just sitting there in that shape.

A major cruise line owns it , It cost over a million dollars per year to keep her at dock . It would make a great restaurant / gaming parlor . Typical phila/NJ politics and corruption will keep this form ever happening . Mark my words , it will be scraped

Been hearing that for years . Bottom line , it would not be a profitable ship to refit and operate , they build them 5 times the size now !

I was stationed at the Philly base when I was on the Kennedy.  I got a chance to see all those great ships.
