Not to trust anybody or anything! Been working today building this party for a large insurance company. Anyways me and my roommate arrived there and we had to leave her bag and our coats somewhere so we were all told to put them in the kitchen where there would be someone all day. I thought well that isn't very safe I even questioned it he said no it's fine! Well the end of they tired my roommate goes to get our stuff is the only thing that is still there her coat. Everything is gone... For me it's not too much but it is my 30gb iPod video, which I was in love with! And the most expensive coat I have ever bought. But my roommate's wallet, keys, phone, mp3 player and the fun thing was going home by train we left our bikes at the train station. But she locked hers to mine with a chain so it wouldn't get stolen. But her keys were stolen and it was raining and we had to walk home. No money left, my only actually warm coat has been stolen, my iPod which I wanted to marry, why didn't I trust my gut feeling that it wasn't safe :RantExplode: Sorry had to rant for a lil while.

Sorry to hear about your belongings, it sucks to have things stolen & I know the feeling. I learned many years ago that if you leave something unattended, it's almost the same as putting a sign over it that says "FREE STUFF". I'm originally from NYC, so watching out for your things is as natural as breathing. Some people grew up in places where everyone leaves their doors unlocked. Even my wife grew up that way, & now wonders why her family was like that. It's too scary to do it now.

My attitude in general, is that people are basically okay, but I don't openly trust anyone unless I've gotten to know them. A neighbor of mine on the same street had a small generator swiped from his driveway against his garage. I would never leave anything of any value out for strangers to see, so it didn't surprise me that it was stolen. We aren't in a crime infested area, but you never know who comes into your area to scout out things to take. I lock all my cars in the driveway at night, even if there's nothing in it to steal.

Locks keep honest people honest.  ::)

The problem is I had no choice. I have to wear different clothes for work and we need to change we also need to travel there so you need all kinds of stuff and you can't carry it with you all day. So you have to leave it. I never leave anything unattended, but you think that at work you could at least trust them to take precautions for stuff like this and really do have someone watching the stuff all day. Or make sure the room is locked.

What was their reaction when you told them your stuff was gone? I think the company has some liability since they told you to put your stuff in a specific place and then it winds up missing. Ask them to reimburse you for your loss. If they tell you to get lost, there is always small claims court. But if this would put a damper on your relationship with the client, then you're SOL.

It was a joint operation of a few companies they were going to discuss the incident tonight and let us know what they are going to do tomorrow. My mom is a lawyer and she already has the letter ready because they are liable. They should have provided the option of a secured place to put your stuf or warned us before hand that that was not a option. But it just sucks, especially for my roommate, canceling her cards, phone and everything. I will get my money in the end, it just sucks that you go there for a nice day of work and earn about 80/90 euro's and you end up loosing stuff worth 400 euro's. That is just not worth it.

Some good news my coat was found on the other side of Amsterdam. Not sure in which state. Some junky dropped it off at a office building and it had papers with the name of the company I work for on it. As well as the keys of my roommate. No sign of the iPod, phone, wallet or bag but I guess it will remain that way.

Get your mom to be ready to sue, in my experience with companies that should be liable they will take the time you give them to "dicuss" what they will do for you to get their ducks in a row to have a good defense of why they shouldn't reimburse you

Arthu®

Well let's just say that the coat issue has been put back in line because let me tell you a little story about what happend in the last week.

Part 1:
Came to the conclusion that I am flat broke and have barrely enough to buy foot for the rest of the month. I come home sunday november the 4th late at night and still have to wash a bunch of clothes to have something to wear the next day. To find out after I put the clothes and in and the machine has filled up with water that it is broken. So now I have a bunch of soaking wet clothes and nothing to wear. Decided that I would wear it another day. But now I don't have a washing machine and no money to buy a new one and a bunch of wet clothes. Had to go to a friends place to do my laundry and was luckily able arrange a different washing machine that I got for free. Problem solved.
Part 2:
I get a new job along with my roommate and at the first day of work (Thursday the 8th) all our stuff get's stolen. My iPod + coat. Luckily a company calls on Friday to the company I work for telling them someone dropped off a coat and keys there. They wrote down the information and they give it to me on a piece of paper. I put that piece of paper in my bag and after a long day of work I find it missing. It is nowhere. It has vanished into thin air. So now I know my coat is probably somewhere and I could vaguely remember the address.
Part 3:
Researching who could have found it, found a street name that looked vary familiar and probably a place. They don't answer the phone but just after I hung up a girl calls who had sort of been seeing for a month to tell me she is 8 days late for her period and is freaking out. And yes we did always take precautions. I don't know how and I sure hope it's a false alarm but with my life right now I don't know. I used to be the guy that was always lucky with everything, right now all that luck seems to come back and bite me in the ass.

So to summarize I am way into debt, still don't have a winter coat and it's getting cold and possibly got some girl pregnant in a mysterious way. It could almost be a good tv-show.

Yikes!!!

The only consolation I can offer is to say bad things tend to happen in threes. So, maybe your string of bad luck is over.

I hope it is.

With regards to the coat, someone at your com[any took the message to pass on to you - perhaps they still have it written down or can remember the address...
With regards to part 3: if there's any qustion at all - get a test done to be sure it's yours. It might seem cold, but if you don't, you'll never know for sure.

And yes I agree.

Can you take me out "old school style?"

So far I'm still hoping that the pregnancy test will come out negative... I'll worry about the rest after that.

don't freak out too bad,.. two out of three means the odds are it's not yours and if it is, could it really be the worst thing in the world?..
worst then losing an arm or a leg?... Some folks have much worse problems ya' know, who was the chick?.. a crack hoe with missing teeth?...
i think you get my point...

Arthu®

No pregnancy test not a paternity test. If she is pregnant I am pretty sure it's mine, she is pretty close friend and it would have been discussed if she had done it with someone else. I agree there are worse problems, but you know being in college is not going to provide a very good income for a kid if she even is pregnant and if she is if she is going to keep it...

wow a pretty close friend?.. well that's great news! belive me it's not that bad... this the beauty you posted pics of before?..
maybe you need to look at this from a different perspective...  :yesnod:
It's great your thinking responsibly, really, i give allot of credit for thinking of the economics, but as i once read, it's never a good time to get pregnant...
I say congrats Arthu@!!!  :2thumbs:
alot of unions and off spring have come from worse beginings.
You get the Maury show over there?..

i bet this i-pod thing is looong forgotten now huh?.   :icon_smile_wink:

It's good you can be so positive, I can see how it's not the end of the world and as far as I know her mom will probably force her to do have an abortion. I don't even know how I stand on that subject. But she is mexican (yeah Ponch, that girl) and catholic, it's not really something that is accepted in her family... It sucks (more for her than for me) and I sure hope it was just one faulty test. It has happend a lot before with home tests according to the pharmasist.

The iPod has been replaced (that was the easy part, even though I had to part with some money). Btw you know what the problem is I would be less upset if it was my own stupid fault, if I had been careless or something. But we did everything we could trying not to... So it's almost impossible yet for some reason it seems to happen. Am I that 0,1% that is unlucky? As you say there is no good time to get pregnant, but there is a better time. If we had a relationship and would be working or something and it wasn't planned it would be a hell of a lot better than that it would happen while we are still both in college. Oh well I guess it's faith or something.

Ok the last week has seemed like the longest in my life, wondering and thinking about everything. But today I finally got the result I was looking for. She took another 3 pregnancy tests and they all turned out negative. I feel so relieved. Thanks everybody for letting me rant here and the support. Everything seems to go back to normal.

Haha Brock I wish I could post some pictures! I have some really good ones, the problem is that if they find out they also have some very good pictures and even more worrying videos of me. So I'm scared to death ;)
