Anyone else addicted to this game. I regularly go 9-5 and win. Also, have made it through all 3 music tunes and no music on 9-5. My wife always ask why it takes so long in the bathroom. Thats the only place I can concentrate. :smilielol:

I used to have the original version of Tetris for Nintendo (Not the frey one pictured above) but it was sold along with the rest of my NES lot a couple years back.

Picture was part of my collection the day I sold it! There are two copies of Tetris hidden in there, but the original copy I sold by itself.

ahhhh........you need the game genie my friend. :yesnod: ;D

Charger1973

I have a few of those and I guess technically I have beaten him....  but not on my own yet.   ;)

I still have my original NES from 1985.  I had to replace the cartridge lock thing in it, best $7 I ever spent, other than that it still works perfectly.  My personal best on Tetris is 146 lines.  I don't have the Mike Tyson edition of Punch Out, but I've kicked the crap out of Mr. Dream a couple times without the cheating assistance.  I have also gotten it down to beating the original Super Mario Brothers in 12 minutes and I can't start playing The Legend of Zelda and not finish it in 1 sitting.

You guys that like Tetris should try Dr. Mario and Klax.  Those are just as fun I think.

Me and my brother used to spend our whole weekend playing that game.   We got it down to points and time, who could get the most in the least time.  Ah, those were the days, summer weekends, no job, no school, NO PROBLEM!

SnoPro440

I beat Tyson many times.   My personal best for Tetirs was on the Game Boy Pocket and I got 498 lines, 780,000 points.  I still have it and still destroy that game.  I have the DS and Tetris for it, but it sucks because it stops at level 20.  On the old one, it just stayed at level 20 until you lost.  The reason for me playing Tetris was because back in 1988 or 89 there was a video game convention at the old Met in St Paul.  They had a contest where you had to play Mario Bros, Rad Racer and Tetris.  If you won, you got to fly somewhere and compete for 25 grand.   Well, I smoked everyone in the first two games and I had no idea how to play Tetris.  I got killed.  Ever since then, and for no other reason, it has been an addiction that won't go away.

Thanks, I got motivated today and took a picture.  This is about 2/3 of my NES stuff, I keep some of the stuff that I have for sale at a local collectibles shop in a display case.  On top of what you see here I have another big load of controllers and guns, about 90 more games and 3 more systems.  I just buy and sell them and if I come across one I dont have I pull it out for my collection.   :2thumbs:

And how about this.  My mom took out the trash last night and someone had tossed this stuff in the dumpster where she lives.  Good thing my brother was willing to "dive" in and get it for me.

Was it just my games or did half the games have to be blown into to work properly? And if you did, why did they work after you blew in the? :scratchchin:

The contacts on the game and system would get dirty over time because most people didnt clean their games.  That dirt then transferred to the contacts of the 72 pin connector inside the control deck.  That combined with the "zero insertion force" (spring loaded) design that bent the connectors when you push the game down, and they didnt make good contact after a while.  Then there was the lockout chip (its possible to disable it) that makes the machine blink off and on when the games dont make good contact.  Blowing on them really didnt do much but we all thought it did back in the day.  Now they say the moisture on your breath will eventually destroy the games contacts.  Its best to just replace it with a new connector and clean your games with alcohol and a q-tip before putting them in your machine.  I replace the 72 pins in all the Nintendos I get and they all work great.   Occasionally you might have to clean a game again or wiggle it a bit, but thats just the way Nintendo is.  You cant really fix the spring loaded design of the machine unless you buy one of the later released top loader models.  They werent spring loaded and didnt have the lockout chip, but they were made cheaper and the AV hookups were left out.  Also the replacement parts for those are pretty much non existant.  No one seems to need them yet but I think in time they will.  So its really a toss up as to which set of problems you want to deal with.  Basically though, if you take care of the system it will work like new for a long time.

OR, you could ust go to www.virtualnes.com and play one of 666 games.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

Charger1973

Thats true but its not the same, I have more problems with emulators than I do with the actual system.  If you go that route though, get one of those NES controllers that have been converted to USB.  Makes things much easier.

I had 3 kids and 2 adults on it constanly. It's wonder it survived at all. I sold 3 complete systems with about 30 games for 10 bucks at our yard sale. :P
