I was in the glass bus for years . To remove scratch , remove glass , install new one ! Case closed ! There is a professional polisher , but it really doesn't work .

Ditto

I bought a kit from eastwood to get scratches from my buttlerfly window, all it did was make them look blurry and the scratches are still there! If you can catch your finger nail on it...it's hopeless

New glass is so nice , it is like getting laid for the first time ! Well almost  :icon_smile_big:

You've ruined an event I've been anticipating since puberty.  :'(

I don't know about the rest of ya, but scratches on the side windows don't ever really bother me. Roll them down, and enjoy the cool 70 mph A/C. As far as on my car, there are scratches on the windows, but i won't replace the glass.

darrin75

you are right.. I have those too, but I am not replacing the glass to get rid of them. :2thumbs:

This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

You cannot polish or buff scratches out of glass because it will distort the glass. You have to buy new.

I know down here a buddy  who is two chargers owner who remove some light scartches on glass, made by the worn wipers ends. He used the red dust used to polish watches glasses and dunno remember what else. LOOOOT OF JOB and patiente but he recalls job was done!!!

New glass is cheap, but then again  there is always something to be said for origional glass too.

daytonalo

You mean fogged up or scratched up glass is a good thing ??

Nacho-RT74

being outside USA, is not that cheap LOL, and no guarantee to get two windshields for a Beetle VW instead one for a Charger. LOL

I guess I take much for granted !!

Depends on what car it is. But yeah origional rear glass in a 500 or a Daytona versus new reproduction glass that is clear or any blemish, yeah I'd take the origional any day.

You might want to try cerium oxide.  The reason I say this is because as I was sitting around today I remember that on How Its Made they talked about how they made mirrors and they showed that after they beveled an edge on the mirrors they went over it with concentrated cerium oxide and polished out the area that was just beveled. Might be worth a shot i know they sell this stuff on ebay.

Lord Warlock

If all else fails, and cerium oxide doesn't work (I bought a kit to polish some scratches out on another car, where a sander contacted a side window-and it couldn't fix it), you can spray it with clearcoat  which does an amazing job hiding the scratch from casual view, although i doubt it would suffice optically in a front or back window, in a rear side glass or vent glass, could do in a pinch.

*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."

I was in Glass business years ago , that stuff is OK if you have a small blemish on a new glass , but absolutely worthless on old glass with many blemishes ! Even if you spent a month working them out , all you would have left would be a wavy , distorted piece of glass that will look like crap .
