I installed a 340 and it was radicle, not sure what the cam was but the engine would not pull a vacume, I nstalled a milder cam (advertised as the most high performance you can use with out a stall converter,  I only ran the radicle cam in the car a short amount of time. After replacing the cam I drove the car on the street 50 miles max, after about 30 mile maybe less I started hearing a clicking noise that got progressivly worse but after you put some gas to it would go away.  I had the same problem with a wild Super bee I had years ago that kept ripping flex plates, sure enough my flex plate was broke at one ear and cracked at two others.  Is this a result of the previouse cam? or should I look else were.  I was Changing trannys any way as I now have a 904 but purchased a rebuilt 727 from RD.  Is my problem likely gone ?  I remember that old super Bee when I was young it seemed like I was getting a new flex plate every 6 months.  Thanks Allen

Alan, did you properly break in the new cam ? Can you isolate the source of the noise ? Is it coming from the valvecover area ?

A ticking noise that goes away with increased engine speed is most likely not a flexplate issue.  :scratchchin:

Holy cripes....you must be beating on it like a wildman  to mess up a flexplate that bad !  :icon_smile_big:

Time for a heavy duty flexplate to replace the weak stock stuff !

Does your TQ converter have 3/8 or 7/16 bolts ? There are a few options out there to upgrade this piece.  :yesnod:

B&M makes a nice solid disc plate that won't crack !  :2thumbs:
