anyone here like AMCs ?  I only ask because the friendly guys from Car Craft brought their 67 Rambler into the shop today so I can swap in a richmond 5-speed...

it is a pretty cool car - its been to the shop before but it is always just cool to see...    it is insanely easier to work on as well    :2thumbs:

I like'm. my first car was going to be a '669 Javlin. dad had bought it for a work car. rust free, perfect interior. the 343 was gone, replaced with a 6. Dad left for work one morning, and the lights went out. while he was under the hood, he heard a car coming hard. he dove in the bushes, and the other car plowed into the Javlin. it was a drunk (in another Javlin) coming home from the bar. he hit our car so hard it shoved the gas tank up where the back seat was.

I grew up with friends that always had them. I used to own a Gremlin too.

Dude, that is one of my favorite cars next to the Charger - AWESOME body lines... Now picture that car, all black same hood treatment slammed with rear exit exhaust, custom 18's and a worked LS7 under the hood... OOOOOH MOMMMMMA! :2thumbs:

Rambler scrambler and AMX should have both been Mopars :2thumbs:

I like a few of their models, especially early Javelins and the AMX but no more than some other makes.  If I had the coin I would definitely seek some out for a well rounded collection.  I'd probably buy one of those before seeking out most Chev musclecars.

triple_green

I really like them too. A local guy has a Hurst S/C Rambler 390 4-speed. I don't rally like the red white and blue paint job, but the rest is cool. He also owns a 69 ? Rebel "Machine".

I really like the 71-74? Javelins too.

My first car to drive was a 61 rambler station wagon..push button tranny with no gas pedal.

I saw a scrambler on a transport truck this week on the 10 in CA and thought it must have been the CC car...don't see those everyday... Maybe they were heading out to your shop!

Also like the AMC Rebel....kinda looks like a mini super bee/roadrunner

I didnt like AMC's until I saw my dad's friend's 70 AMX. It was Big Bad Orange with the Go Pack (stripes, side pipes). It was a 390 4-speed. It's apperentley one of like 20 or something like that. I have a picture of it around here somewhere...I'll scan it when I get home...Im at school right now so I cant really post the picture of it.  :2thumbs:

I went to high school with a guy who had a Javelin - and I think that's about the last time I've seen one around.  I just read the AMC story on wikipedia.  Check out this 77 Matador Barcelona edition - maybe the strangest looking car I've seen in a while...

Ya, they were strange/ugly, but they sure did have a lot of room in them, and rode pretty well. I used to have a friend that had one.

I've always liked the Javelin and AMX and the red white and blue paint jobs just screams American and looks good on it too. To bad they were turned into Eagle after Chysler got ahold of it.

I drove a '74 Hornet with a 304 and Hurst 3-speed for a while until I got my '70 Charger going. :drive: That was a fun little car but man it was well beat by the time I got it and even more so when I was done with it. I took it on more than one DOH-inspired flights. Last but not least the AMC muscle cars are starting to catch up in value.

Here it is in the background:

Really?

1968 Rebel SST 2-dr hardtop w/'70-up suspension and the Rebel Machine hood...that's a favorite-kinda a mix between a Road Runner and a Torino. Well, if they had a "Love Child!"

AMCs are awsome. :2thumbs: I would love to have a gremlin one day :yesnod:

I cant believe no ones mentioned the coolest of them all the Pacer. :2thumbs:

One of my past friends used to own a '73 Gremlin with a factory 304 V8 and a 3spd on the floor. That stock Gremlin was a Mustang killer :yesnod:

Here is one that is about 15 minutes from me that was listed for sale today. Even has the AMX wing. You can also see in the picture of the interiour, that it even has the console with the U shifter. That is rare for a 304 car. Can't tell for sure, but it looks like it even has the Levies interiour. This just very well be a high optioned car.

That one is pretty tempting....

The more I look at what you can get from the 'others' as far as a Muscle Car, you sure get way more bang for the buck. Hmm...
