Nada seems waaaaaaaay out of whack for current market

I know they are typically too high but it's gotten rediculous considering the current soft market. My 1968 383/4spd is said to be worth $67,635 top end.

http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-22-1-5013-0-0-0&l=1&w=22&p=1&f=5014&y=1968&m=1052&d=2446&c=7&o=11019~11020&vi=69471&da=1

I don't know of any 383/4spd '68 worth anywhere near that. A 4spd R/T in top condition is probably only worth $50k tops.

Is there a more reliable resource for finding classic car values?

69bronzeT5

Yea, they are always out of whack.

For example, my dad's friend has a Saturn yellow 1970 Buick GSX 455. They say its worth $75-80k tops if I remember correctly. Yet, he had his GSX appraised by a professional appraiser and the guy said $140k

I dont even bother looking at the muscle car prices in there. As far as there current car values go I think there trade in value is actually closer to what one could expect to get out of there car selling it outright.

NADA has ALWAYS been a joke when it comes to collector cars.  :smilielol:

three years ago, was around $14K... last year around $20K ( both on high retail )... now... damn look it by yourself.

I think untill last year was still on a "decent" rate... now in a year or a year and a half... INSANE!!, but great if somebody pays :D

Note: hard to say if my car would qualify as Rallye packaged, because even had exterior look, wasn't completelly build with it, but I ended to complete the rallye package, and since no fender tag or buildsheet here, maybe...

would the R/T badges increase a little bit the price ? LOL.

I guess I'm lucky that our Customs didn't look at NADA for the price so my import duties was not that high.  :icon_smile_big:
With NADA..I don't want even to think about it.  :o

I have used NADA price book to Insure all my cars, but I have never used there guide when negotiating a purchase price, now Sale price that may be a different story :coolgleamA:  I din't believe I have ever used NADA when selling a car either.  I know what I need to get out of the car and if I can't get what I think it's worth, I won't sell

The NADA sucks when you are looking for another Mopar. Just like at the Mopar Nationlas, when a turd 73' SE Charger is going for $8000 & the For Sale sign states "NADA Price" :RantExplode:

It is amazing how high the prices can be at Nationals.

It's a joke. They say a 67 tempest 4dr. is worth more than a 70 Cutlass Supreme  2dr. in the same condition  :-\

What's even funnier is that if you click on the definition of "High Retail" it tells you that price is NOT for a 100 pt or #1 car... damn, I'd hate to see what they say a 100 pt '69 Hemi Charger 4 sp is worth (high retail >200k)...

It still comes down to the fact that they are only worth what somone will actually pay at the time no matter what the car is. I think alot of people have realized that the NADA book is a waste of paper but theres still a few fools out there.

Something is getting overlooked when most of you are looking up those values on NADA. Yeah the prices are out of wack, and high.

Take for instance the one for the 1970 RT/SE. It shows a high value of $76,700. Then adding 30% for the 440 engine, which is in reality already included once you check the box for the Charger R/T. Now the 10% for a/c and 10% for SE can be taked on as they are not included. So the NADA is really saying the high value for a 1970 RT/SE with a/c is $92,040 not the $115,050 on the link.

Then again I think that $92K is high. I looked at what they were listing for Charger 500's for 69 and it isn't going with the current price's, and its not even going with the over inflated prices of 9 months ago either. As they list for a Charger 500 without any interesting options like 4 speed or A/C as being a high value of $109,200. Thats for a 440 AT car? I don't think so. But if you check the box for the 440 in the options it comes up like this.http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-22-1-5013-0-0-0&l=1&w=22&p=1&f=5014&y=1969&m=1052&d=2453&c=11&o=10969&vi=69518&z=70744&da=-1
