hieveryone we just got the shortblock lastnight and putting the top end together all has gone well except for the oil pump drive it says the oil pump drive must be in center linewith the cam however when i drop it in it keeps coming out a hair off i have then engine at top dead center and looking down at the oil pump drive gear the slot on the end where the distributor goes in is straight across with the cam but it is  at a slight angle when i drop the distributor in the rotor is point at 4 oclock wich in the book shows to be number 1 cylinder .. im getting ready to install the intake and just wanna be sure i have the drive in right .....anyone?

GreenMachine

Yes, that's fine. Setting it in the centerline keeps the Vac. advance in the right position so it doesn't interfere with anything while timing the engine.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.
