I just bought a set of the 68/69 "Bullitt" style wheel covers and was wondering if some of the paint is missing. The question that I have
is in regards to the area around the 5 black out boxes. It looks like there is a light gray paint around the outer half then it fades away
to nothing as you go toward the middle of cap. Should there be paint around the black out areas?  :scratchchin:

I have a set of these that were dealer takeoffs. The recessed area around the black squares is painted a low texture medium argent. It is the same texture as the grill surround on my 68 Charger, but it is a darker color. It surrounds the black square in the recessed area. Then it gives way to the chrome part of the wheel (which is not recessed) that houses the red center cap.

Hope this helps!

Thanks 3x green. I was not sure if the remaining paint was some kind of oxidation or thin paint. I almost took some fine steel wool to the
area to clean it up. That would have remove all of the remaining paint.  I bought them off of ebay and was told that the paint areas were very nice. I guess the seller did not know what was right either. It looks like I will have to look for another set now :brickwall:
