I bought a Charger and someone put a 70 dash in a 68 and never saved the 68 vin. The title matches the fender tag, core support and trunk lip just not the vin. The DOT man said he would assign a new vin but it would be a IA----- instead of a XP29H8 number and the title would read IA---- for a vin number. PLEASE HELP!!!

The title cannot match those numbers on a 68 since the VIN isn't stamped on the body or the tag.

The only guaranteed *legal* way to get a new VIN is through the DMV - even though the tag won't look original and the number may be different.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

ok the sequence numbers are the same. I wonder what that would do to the value of the car?
