So this guy gets his dream car rebuilt from the ground up for free and turns around and sells it.  :rotz:

Probably because he couldn't afford the costs that are involved with having the cars done on that show. Plus I think they destroyed that looks of the car myself with those big wheels/shaved door handles/mirrors, and mostly the two tone paint. :eek2:

135 miles?  Whats up with that.  One can do that on a weekend running errands. :popcrn:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Doesn't look any different from what anyone can do in their driveway over a short period of time. And the two tone paint scheme comes after the third flat of beer.....or rum.

That's the Goody kids's fathers car.     They were trying to sell it months ago and it got mentioned on moparts.   Bunch of negative comments towards them and a bunch of excuses to don't ask why... boo hoo  :'(

I just suspect they're trying to profit from it myself.   :Twocents:    Whatever...  I like some parts of it but as a whole I can leave it.

Every friggin' Foose car I've ever seen is two tone and has 20" rims. :rotz: He only knows how to sing one song. I'd have the bottom half rubbed out and painted black to match the top, raise the suspension three inches and put some 15"-17" rims on it... or sell it like this guy.

I agree with the majority, Foose is a tard (I have met him at some industry shows and none likes him it seems)
As for the car i don't get the shaved look at all and the two tone paint makes it look like a 50's chevy.  :shruggy:
And I think that the big wheel look is wrong for most of the older cars but then I am older and just used to the
traditional look.

I never thought the cartoon look would catch on when I first saw it, & hope it fades away like air shocks in the 70's. I can take or leave the 2 tone paint, but the color just doesn't grab me on this one. I also never liked the nose on the Challenger after 1971, so it just looks odd to me anyway.

I do like the interior though, especially the dash with the white face cluster.

Everyone's a freaking critic... :eyes:

Yes, the car is currently owned by a member's dad and it seems to me that he has a valid reason for selling. From what I understand, he wanted a car he could drive and this one certainly isn't something he feels comfortable taking to the grocery store. That's the exact reason I don't own a rare, numbers matching car or Hemi car or wing car and why I haven't bothered to paint the Barracuda. He'll only get mega bucks from it *if* the buyer is willing to pay for it - and obviously no one posting in this thread plans on buying it. As it stands, he has a really expensive garage ornament. Having said all that, it would be stupid to just give it away when all he has to do is hold out for the right buyer.

I wasn't picking on the owner, if he was looking for a fun car to drive and not worry about
I would be selling it too.
Was just stating my opinions about Foose's style ( was having a tough morning and he's an easy target  :D )

True, it's not "free" to have your car rebuilt on the show. You have to pay taxes on the "value" of the work completed (the show gives you a 1099 to file with your taxes I believe). At least four of the cars have gone up for sale for various reasons. You have to wait a year before selling and you can't change the car. I did a quick Google search but I decided it's a waste to repost the replies from the owners. Every thread I found went exactly like this one has so far (ie the owners are money grubbing slimeballs who didn't deserve the car in any case).

Also, who would restore a '72 Challenger back to stock? And why? I'm sure someone has but it's probably not real common unless it's a factory 4-speed or something along those lines. The value of the restoration would surely exceed the value of the car. If I were going to heavily modify a car I'd definitely start with one that wasn't ultra-rare (ie cheaper). Besides, that car has a brand new 392 Hemi to go along with the paint.  :drive:

My opinion is that I would be so lucky and thankful if Foose did one of my cars.  Like him or not, he busted his ass to get a name in the industry.  His cars are worth alot of money and he has no problem getting customers.  If I was lucky enough to get one of my cars done, I would NEVER sell it.  Who says you cant drive it?  The car was done for free!!!  This is just another way of someone cashing in.  That is why you se the cars that are on Pimp my Ride, Overhaulin' and Trick my Truck all go up for sale.  it is easy money and I think that is wrong!!!!!!!!!

Nothing wrong with selling anything, how do you think most people buy an old car?   :shruggy:

Someone has to sell something, we can't all be pack rats or you'd have to sneak into someone's house at night, kill them & take their car keys.  :D

I'm not saying Foose doesn't have talent, but what he does to a classic car just isn't my cup of tea. I'd ride around forever in primer and shredded interior than one of his two tone oversized wheeled clown cars.

People have opinions based on what they like or dislike. So if people do not like something it is wrong for them to voice their mind? Or do we all have to love everything that is made by everyone? What I see here is if the "opinions" that are held by some are negative then they must be wrong. That's good news for the modern day car manufacturers. However these wrong minded individuals are keeping their money in their incorrectly closed wallets.

I have absolutely no desire to buy the Foose Challenger. The model year is not my favorite (bad opinion?), and while Chip Foose is a very talented guy and can create some stunning works - this is not one of them (again a bad opinion?) The biggest reason is I have no want for a car along this line. So any non-positive opinion is nullified? Any one like Pamela Anderson? How about Ann Coulter? Any non-favorable thoughts discredit the holder.

Its a big world and hoping that everyone will agree en masse with anyone on any topic is rose colored glasses viewing at its best. Long live the Edsel!

Its funny how all of you hate the car but if your car was on there you would love it no matter what they did to it for free.

Foose is very good at doing one kind of look.

But then, he's no different from most of his contemporaries in the custom car world.  That whole world hasn't changed their tune in a decade or more.

Most certainly not true.
