Carrera GT Crash Settled for $4.5m

The lawsuit was recently settled for a reported total of approximately $4.5 million. The contributions to the settlement were about 49% from the estate of the driver, 41% from the track owners and the event organizers, 8% from Porsche, and 2% from the driver of the Ferrari that was claimed to have triggered the crash.

i can see the CGT driver's fault for not telling the passenger, I can see the track officials fault for allowing the guy to run even though there were issues with the car and letting sign off on his own tech, i can even see the ferrari driver's part in the accident.

the thing that chaps my arse is blaming porsche for not installing a stability control?  that is ludicrous, the owner of the car knew what they were buying, they knew the options, etc...  porsche is not to blame, that car could outhandle a vette, but yet it is still not good enough.  gee, next time someone gets into a car without side air bags and they get killed, will the auto maker get blamed for not installing them even though there is no federal mandate to do so?

Porsche paid out to shut that person up, and that is bullcrap that they were forced to do so.

:iagree:

And why do kids need to be playing that close to the track?  I know it was for a nascar race but arent the pits dangerous enough for kids in the first place.    :popcrn:
