Gave my Charger away today.

Well, I gave the  68 charger that I have owned since it was new to my nephew today.  The look in his eyes as they were putting the vinyl top on, was more rewarding than the car itself.  He has wanted that car since he was little, so today I finally said, "Its yours"  He kind of laughed, thought I was joking.  Then was overwelmed with emotion.  He had to get rid of the charger he had when his baby was born, and I can only drive one.

That just leaves me with the 69 charger now and I like the fact that I know the 68 is in good hands.

Your a good man! Now when you want to get rid of the '69, look me up! :D

Wow, you are very gracious. I don't think I could ever just give away a charger. Especially a '68

I bet your nephew was flippin out when you said you were serious about giving it to him!

your a good uncle. My uncle kept my 4-wheeler after my family sold our camping grounds.so 4 years later, now, he buys his dream truck a 71 chevy p/u off ebay. so were working in the garage on it ,because I got sent to my grandmas house cause I got in trouble  :D. , and he says," do you like the truck" and I say yeah," then you can have it when you get older" and he had the nerve to say it with MY 4-wheeler sitting in the back of it.

That's a truely generous thing to do, good for you!

I bet you're feeling pretty happy right now. :yesnod:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

ChargerHound69

Actually I am.

I have had that car far too long.  I was one of those people who let is sit with all the city comming up asking if I was going to get rid of that buck and how much it would take.
Him and a few friends of ours came over and we started putting it back together.  After about a year now, it is finally painted vinyl top and interior are getting done as we speak, and the new tires and wheels are already on it.  The only thing we did not do is the guages and dash.  That will be for him to tackle now.

He is very excited.  Can hardly contain himself in the garage right now.  He will enjoy it

You are a better man than I Charley Brown. My self, might let him use it and keep it at his house but I would keep the title. Well may maybe not. Never had a person that close I could trust. Wife, no way she cannot drive for Chevy. Daughter, makes my foot seem lite and she be dead all ready. My newphes, would not turst them with a big rock much less something they could sell. ;D

wow that is really great of you , in  a way I'm doing something similar but not free .    My mom's partner in her family practice has a son that wants a charger .  He's about 12 or 13 and wants me to fix one up for him , although he is young  and yaps like a school girl and about 4 levels below MH on maturity .  I think I'm going to fix up my 70 for him  pretty cheap . I'm not going to be able to put a 440 in it like i wanted so I'm probably going to put a 318 in it . As young as this kid is and not too bright ; I know that hell get into trouble with a 440 in highschool and all his friends will want to race.  He gets on a lot of nerves but I'm glad hes taken an interest in chargers. Maybe ill be able to mentor him and shape him right.

Nice story, & nice thing to do for someone!  :2thumbs:

I have an uncle who did something very similar for me with a 1973 VW Camper. He bought it new, & I always loved it since I was a kid. I thought a small house on wheels was the greatest thing. It barely ran when he was done with it at 180,000 miles, but it still ran & the interior was nice. He called me to ask if I wanted it, & I said sure. I tinkered with it for a while, but it was just too expensive to repair, so I told him I'd put it in the paper, sell it & give him the money for it. He said keep whatever I got for it & not to worry about it. I sold it about 12 years ago for $400 to a Dead Head who said his friend, another Dead Head could fix it. He was going to take it to AZ & live in it for a while until he had enough money for an apartment. He might still be in it.   :smilielol:

He might be with the house prices in AZ going up

WOW, thats awesome.

Its good to kow it'll be in good hands and I'd imagine you've thought about it a long time and like you said, he's loved/wanted it since he was little, so it'll also stay in the family.

BTW-Pics of the pair and the 2 owners?

ChargerHound69

Working on the pictures.  They just finished the vinyl top and the headliner today.  I want to try to get it all back together before the Oct. 9 car show in Madera, CA.

Anyone else going to this show???   Post up.

bull

Wow! That's very nice of you. The only thing any of my relatives ever gave me for free was headaches. :P

I have a friend who's doing the same thing with his stable. His oldest son gets the '71 'Cuda 340 and the youngest will get the '70 Challenger R/T SE 383. I tried to get him to adopt me so I could get his '66 Charger but so far it's not working. :'(

That is a very nice thing you did for your nephew!! You will be rewarded many times over for your generosity!  One of my grandsons will probably be the lucky recepient of my Charger , but not for a while!!    Your nephew will hopefully keep the chain of generosity going at some point in the future.

Reidar

Respect man! Im guessing you'll be his favourite uncle for the rest of days!
