I have 69 charger with mp electronic ignition, I have a constant output voltage regulator. Car is over charging, I think the regulator has gone bad causing it to over charge. My question is can I put a 70s or up electronic voltage regulator on a single field alternator?? Is there a way to make a single field alt. work with the double field regulator, or do I need to get a double field alt?? I want to put the 70s and up style on the car so if it goes out I can get one from the local parts store!!! Has any one got any ideas or has done this :shruggy

1hot68, who sells an electronic version of the single wire alt. setup ?? can I get it at a local auto parts store ?? And if I convert it to 70 up style can I convert my single field alt too a double field ?? My alt. is not that old thats why I wanted to know if I can convert it to a double field, or if I have to get a double field alt. to convert to 70s style?? I want to have a system that if something goes on it I can get the parts at a local parts store so I'm stranded some where waiting for parts!!!!!

elec regulator for single field... year one carries them same as ebay. probably also locally, dunno, never have been in USA

convert a single field on to double field ? yes, you need just drill a hole enough big on oposite side of the grounded brush to be able to fit the isolator and new brush. will need then run teh wire to the new field and the correctelect regulator

I think every part is still available locally.
