Oh great, i cant wait till my kids are in school.  What happend to the old days where a fist fight on the playground settled the score and then you were best freinds from there on.  :icon_smile_blackeye:

terrible one

Haha man I remember this one time at school this kid was at his locker and opened it up and a clip full of bullets fell out and hit the ground, causing them to go everywhere. He just picked up the now empty clip, shoved it into his locker, and went about his business, leaving the bullets on the ground. He didn't get caught/ in trouble either. I knew of a lot of kids that carried guns around my school. . .

I was one of those kids with guns.  So were my brother and cousin.  We were loaded up pretty heavy too.  I usually had one of my handguns and a rifle or two.  My brother carried 2 45's and a sawed off pistol grip shotgun.  My cousin usually had a shotgun and a rifle.  We'd just keep the guns under the seat of our vehicles.  Most knew we were carrying, teachers included.  I still carry on the college campus even though it's supposedly against the rules there too but they can kiss my a$$!

Come to think of it we always were carrying pocket knives too.  Nobody cared.  I don't understand why schools today go ape when they see a kid with a knife.  We were always using ours on a daily basis for various things.
When I was just a very young lad I looked up and told my dad, a bareback rider's what I wanna be.  I want the whole world to know about me.  In the rodeo arena I'll make my stand.  I wanna be a rodeo man.  I'll come flyin' from the chute with my spurs up high, chaps and boots reachin' for the sky.  Spurin' wild with my head throwed back, you'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.  You'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.

they go apeshit because kids today are freakin crazy...the littleset thing and that knife would be out and in someones back/chest/wherever.  I just cringe thinking of what could happen at my daughter's school.  Although it is a k-5 school all the kids have a military parent.  Most military guys have or want guns.....aa few of the guys here are off cocked.  we had a few incidents here in the neighborhood where the husband has held their wives and kids hostage at gun point.  Do you know how easy it could have been for one of those kids to get their hands on that gun and brought it to school.  Obviously there was violence in the house before...they see/hear it and either thinkit is normal behavior or are messed up from it and then come to school and take it out on the kids around them....I have personally seen this happen.....I just pray that nothing ever happens to my kids and that the schools saty vigilant.   :Twocents:

Same here. I don't remember anyone putting them in their locker but where I grew up in Eastern Oregon pretty much every truck, Jeep or Scout had a loaded gun rack in the parking lot. A 30-06 and/or 30-30 between Sept. and Jan. and a .22 the rest of the time.

As mentioned before these things used to be settled after school or by responsible parents but now students are all expected to act like pansies and just stuff their angst rather than deal with it correctly. This kid had a lot of problems and apparently no one bothered to come along side him and point him in the right direction. As usual the "officials" will probably do the exact opposite of what they should do in a lame attempt to curb such acts.

Here's a solution I think will work: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21197747/

It is sad but it was not the guns fault.
This is a touchy subject.
Kids that grow up hunting are safe and know how to use guns. It is the inner city, troubled folk that you can't trust with guns.  :Twocents:

hubby and I play airsoft...we both ahve "toy" guns that look very much (and feel very much) like real guns.....our two older (8 & 5) daughters have played with them, but know that guns are not toys.  I have made it practice (until a few weeks ago) that they couldn't have a toy gun in the house.  I feel that if they percieve a gun as a toy they will treat one as such...real or not.  Hubby finally talked me into letting them have nerf guns...not sure if I like them or not especially since the littlest one (she's two years old by the way) brought one up to me and said bam bam bam as she "shot" me.

Yeah,
I would not want my daughter playing with toy guns. I guess guns really are trouble in the hands of the youth, toy or real. :scratchchin:

Damn kids.

My wife has always been a little afraid of having guns in the house, moreso when our oldest Son started developing a 'hothead' behavior to certain situations. She thought he might get the idea to use a gun at some point, which I thought was rediculous. He was a good boy. But to keep peace between us, I offered to store the guns in locked boxes & in pieces, thinking that a kid wouldn't have a clue how to assemble one.

One day, a kid was razzing my Son (age 14 at the time) on the bus ride home from school. He was so worked up that he came home, swiped his brother's pellet pistol, found the kid & shot him in the back. The kid was wearing a coat & wan't injured...didn't know he even got shot at first, but that was enough to open up a rather large can-o-worms for all of us, that lasted a couple years.
We immediately pulled him out of school & my Wife home-schooled him from then on. I saw that my Wife's female intuition was spot on & I was just being blind.
I separated a few parts from the guns & stored them elsewhere in the home...also, had no live ammo at home. There was no way those would be used without me being there.

That was the last time he tried anything like that & although he still has his hothead traits, he works things out much more normally nowdays.

My thoughts on the school shooting crap that goes on these days, mainly puts the blame on parents not giving a shit about their kids & too many video games teaching them how to kill with no remorse...pretty much de-sensitizing <sp?> them.
I hope this gets better real soon, but I'm having my reservations.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)
