Old Accel Dual Point Questions Again.

  Does anyone here have the specks for a Accel Dual Point and how does the Mechanical Advances work.

1 What should the gap be set with a feeler gauge?

2 What should the dwell be on 1 set of points

3 What should the dwell be when it is running on both sets of points.

4 I have tried looking on U Tube and the only thing I could find was how to set up a Mallory Dual point. In that video the guy said only 1 set of points should be open at the same time? Right now, both my points are open at the same time, is that right?  :shruggy:

Now the question I am embarrassed to ask! How does the Mechanical Advances work? I know there are weights and springs, the far the weights move out from the shaft the more advances the timing become! But how?  :shruggy: Does the plate that hold the points move?

And as hard as it is to believe, I have never taken a distributor apart?  :shruggy:Any tips?  :shruggy:

Funny thing is I have rebuilt engines, pulled heads, changed cams, pulled engines, rear ends, transmissions, replaced frame rails, quarters and just about anything I missed! But all wise had the Local Speed Shops set up the distributors?   

Sure hope someone can help me on this.
