Getting ready to powder coat my exhaust tip hangers and just wondered what color they were from the factory.  Bare steel or black?

I think they were unpainted from the factory. So if you want to be 100% correct let them rust... ;)

I see that AccurateLTD in Oregon has these available in stainless for $70.

If you don't want the luster of a clear coat, use a product called Boeshield.  You can get it at places like Sears Hardware.  It's a coating that preserves uncoated metal surfaces.  It comes in a can.
