I'm getting closer to having my car painted and I'm wondering what shade of black the dash is supposed to be. By that I mean the metal portion where the defroster vents, VIN plate and speaker hole are.

Bull,
It should really be the organisol textured black. I simply did mine by "dryspraying" black epoxy primer to get the texture, then painting it semi-flat black with a spray can.

It is a textured 'suede' finish. PPG calls it number 9324 "Satin Black" in 1968 and 9324 "Jewel Black" in 1969 (same paint code, just different name).
