I mounted my wing tonight on my 74. As you know, I went through 2 layers. Outside skin and the inner. Should I enlarge the underside and run the nuts flush to the outside skin or will it be ok to just seal it and tighten from the second skin (inside)?

if it were me id use the holes as a pilot that you have already drilled and from the underside use a holesaw to neatly make an "accsess" hole so that its mouted to the skin only.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

Hmm, not sure if the outer skin will support the weight/pressure of the spoiler alone. However, tightening it the way you have it may buckle the outer skin.
Don't they make repro go-wing underside brackets for 3rd gen Chargers, like used on 2nd gen B-bodies or E-bodies?

My lid does not have the cut outs like the 71 chargers. It would take some extensive cutting to make the area look like it was made to accept the original brackets. Maybe I could widen one of the holes big enough to slide a 5" piece of flat stock in and mount that under the outer skin :scratchchin:

Drop Top

I would use a set of original stile of brackets and modifie the deck lid to except them. If not you need to enforce the top side of the deck lid with something. Your idea with the 5" piece of metal will work to a fashion But won't work as well as a factory bracket.

Finally done. The underside of the trunk I drilled the holes a little bigger and slid in nylon spacers so the torque would be on them and mount the wing tight without any copression integrity. Also siliconed around the out holes before mounting.

Bob, The wing looks great. :2thumbs: But honestly I know another green Mopar it would look really good on. :nana:
