Got some parts back from the powdercoater today. Man they look great. Totally the way to go after having them blasted and coated they look practically new. I'm amazed at how nice the A/C Air Cleaner came out. Even had the trunk rods done while I was at it.

Now I don't have to worry about any rust or anything in the dash. Should look great forever. Just really excited and wanted to share!

    I wish I'd have known the powdercoater in my area before....  I'd have done a lot more.   As it is I just take 1 or 2 pieces when I get around to it as I fix or replace something.

That dashboard....I'm thinking you removed the VIN tag beforehand, huh?

Powdercoat is the way to go.  I had my wheels and the push bar for The Colonel powdercoated, and they just looked awesoem.  When I went to pick them up, my jaw hit the floor.  Did I mention I love powdercoat!!!   By the way, that stuff looks great!!

Did anyone see a past Hot Rod issue, seems the craze now is to have the whole stripped car powdercoated as soon as it is media blasted. Says the coating is pulled in to places where the spraying paint wont land.  Said that the powdercoating seals in any media that did not get blown out that could come loose during the final painting.  they did a unibody, inside and out, and it looked great. Total price for media blasting and powdercoating , $1800.

Watch the classified ads, people remodel all the time & you can pick them up very cheap, or even free. I just saw one recently, an electric oven/range for only $15 at a yard sale.

Just make sure it's not a microwave oven.

The total cost for media blasting all those parts and powdercoating was $150. So not bad.

I didn't take the VIN tag off. Thought a lot about it, but I was afraid it would look tampered with later to an "expert", and I wasn't that worried about it getting stolen beacuse only real MOPAR die-hards would think about looking for a tag on a dash. This is a little shop that processes a lot of parts so I wasn't that worried about it getting stolen.

Thanks guys. I'm loving it. I'm just mad I haven't done more. So far I've done the bumper brackets and front cross-brace, the hood hinges, and the pieces you see here.

We do them at the shop all the time...   It makes them look 10x better than paint...    plus it is tough as nails   


and there is a very high temp tape that is like aluminum foil powder coatrs can use to cover the VIN tags so they don't get coated

I just had the VIN coated as well. May not look 100% correct, but I can't be accused of Tampering and having the VIN coated over I thought would make it less obvious to someone interested in nefarious deeds. I didn't know about the tape. Is there some particular issue with having the tag coated other than the look?
