Well, the turmoil of buying a new house is starting to feel less painful.. Whoever said buying a new house is smooth sailing ought to be smacked in the face.. lol

The house will be our family's first new house.. It's a 2600 sq/ ft home with an upstairs play room....... THE GARAGE is my creation of which the developer said they have never built a 4-car garage with a full portacache.. Well,,, if they are a custom builder, as Styx would say, "never say never......"

Front yard; Got to keep some oaks, so that's good.. Neighborhood isn't a "plow-it-all-down"

Back yard

Front of 23.5" x 47" garage with 25ft. Portacache

That will always be the case... But, it's actually a foot wider than the one I have... And it'll be finished off inside... So, it'll be nice and bright....

Dude, sell the house and buy a daytona. ;D

Awesome Garage! you should consider having a tray ceiling installed at the back of the garage as to make room overhead for a car lift? Looks like you have about 9' or 10' you will need 11' to 12' to get one car over another.

This house is pretty much on the edge of what I can do....... The thought of raising a section of the roof has crossed my mind, but for now, this will have to do.. It'll be plenty big enough for my three Mopars.... The two Dodge daily driver's will be protected with the portacache......  I have the biggest lot and garage in the subdivision..  :D

Well, couldn't do that, but there are plans on which side might have a Daytona.. It'll take getting the '68 closer to completion..

Basically, it's a fancy carport.. The roof line of the garage extends to the front of the "carport", so the garage and carport are a complete structure.

Is it the subdivisions code that you have to have that instead of a larger garage?

Na... a 4-car enclosed structure is plenty big enough for me and my Chargers.. I told them if I'm going to buy, I need a carport of some sort, period. Well, being that it's a brand new subdivision and all, the houses aren't allowed to have carports, but portacaches are allowed. I actually like the portacaches better, better looking plus you have additional storage attic space... Originally, a 3-car garage was going to be the biggest I could get, but since I wanted a tandem 4-car garage, corporate signed off on it on order to make the sale...  I'm a man who will not compromise on what I want...  Growing up in South Florida, we had carports. Now I'm married, I want protection for my family and vehicles when it's pouring... Last thing you want is trying to get my baby out of the car and it's dumping....  Plus, I love hanging out under the carport/portacache when it's raining hard and drinking a cold one.... I pop  the garage door open, pull out the lawn chair, sit next to the Chargers and watch the rain come down and the crackle of thunder.

It's a trade off... I'm right with ya on freedom to do what you want.. But, in these parts, some would put a rickety-old carport up and totally distract for the neighborhood..  Personally, I  like the portacache over a regular carport. Plus, they probably wouldn't hold up  well to strong winds let alone a hurricane... I made sure my house and garage got hurricane straps/clips.... As of now, the developer has control of the design and do's and don't's of the subdivision.. As soon as 80% of the homes/lots are occupied, then a homeowner's association is formed..... Needless to say, I'll probably be part of it to create a sense of "checks-n-balances" to any potential NAZI's that may join.....  But then again, I may be considered the NAZI being that I'm the "guy" with the 4-car garage and old cars.........  :icon_smile_big:

This should be a nice situation until I can retire and move out to some acreage somewhere away from everyone...... lol

If you have any trouble completing the sale, you have options:

ILLSBORO, Ohio - A man angry that he wasn't going to be sold a house is accused of using a power saw to turn the abode into a convertible. Rodney Rogers apparently thought an acquaintance was going to build a house and sell it to him, and he was living in it while it was being completed, Highland County Sheriff Ronald Ward said Wednesday.

That is really nice. Love the garage and portacache.

My wife and I have talked for years about having our next house custom built with a garage big enought to hold 4 cars and a work\storage area.

Are you going to have a covered walk space between the garage and the house?
How many bedrooms?
What is your scheduled date of completion?

I also love living on a corner lot and not being surounded on all sides by neighbors. Can look out the windows and not feel boxed in.

You are a lucky man.

Thanks all....

Steve, the breezeway will be from the front edge of the garage, but not the portacache.. I told them that I want a covered section from the portacache since I don't want to walk into the garage to be covered, especially when it's raining...... To say this experience has been pleasure is a gross misunderstanding.. It sucks.... Salesman can't get his "stuff" together... Tuesday, he handed my wife a contract that was nearly $20,000 more than it should have been, needless to say she freaked. This is because we've sold our current house  !!!!!  Come to find out, after a day and a half of VERY high stress, he was wrong.. All he would say is, "It's off, what more do you want me to do?"  Easy fix for him, a very harsh emotional period for us.   :flame: .................... But, I believe everything will work out in the end...... It better........ Actually, if it means something, I'm supposed to have a drink with another home buyer friend of mine with the owner of the corporation.. Boy, will be vent............ The salesman doesn't know about this..............

The one bad thing about this lot is the back yard, there hardly is one.......... Because it's pie-shaped, the front yard is huge in width, but very narrow in the rear and our garage doesn't help matters........ Sooo, the kids will play out front....  We're at the end  of the subdivision and there's only one way in and out.. So, traffic should be light..........

There will be 4 bedrooms to the house; Master, Julie's, Jacob's and my Mom's (the reason we're moving to begin with). The up stairs is one big "extra" room.. Some people turn it into a entertainment room with High-Fi everything.......... We have to stay within our means........  It should be done in early or middle Dec. Hope so.. It'll be nice to decorate this house

Nice Troy. Gotta love the breezeway. My front garage is connected to the house with a  breezeway. In high winds we get the wind tunnel effect but like you said from the house to the car you keep dry. If your neighbors are anything like mine they will love you when you power up your tools  :D

i have 3 car garage. House is split level (also they call it Cali style) and first floor, including garage stays very cool from the concrete floor. A/C keeps top floor cool no problem. Problems is that it gets pretty cool in winter in the garage also and I dont like to work on Charger in those conditions.

Hey Troy.  Congrats on the new home.  It looks like a sweet lookin' home.  We have the opposite pie shape with a big backyard.  Are you doing the yard?  I put sprinklers, seeded the yard and all the trees and landscaping.  It was like therapy back then, I really hate not being able to mow the yard anymore.  Your garage looks like the ceiling's are low, too low for a lift?
Our next home will have a 3 car garage with at least one stall having a high ceiling for a 2 post lift.

If there's one thing we learned is you have to stay on top of those home builders.

Hey there Mike.. We talked about a above-average ceiling, but we pretty much reached our financial comfort zone and I didn't want to push it.. Maybe later I might be able to do something... The front and sides of the house will be sodded. I'll be responsible for the back yard.. We'll probably push the limit and get the sprinkler system.. I'll probably approach the firm that does it out there for the house and see if they can do it for me without a middle-man... My present house has a sprinkler system and really like it.......

Here's the latest as of Friday.. I'll go out there today and see what they did Sat.... Keeping the pressure on the builder is essential, but in good and bad ways...... The builder said that a covered walkway from the portacache to the back door wasn't doable, that the breezeway HAD to be connected to the front corner of the garage... Fine and dandy, I have no problem where the breezeway is, but I do want a covered path from the portacache to the back door. Don't want to have to open the garage door, go through the garage, close the garage door when it's raining..... Told them id they can't do that, then they need to take the "Custom" part out of "Darling Custom Homes"...  ;D

Hope alls well in your neck Mike..........

I can already see that the garage is too small, you might have to enclose the portacache and bump it out another 20 feet.  :shruggy:   :icon_smile_big:
